Regular letting of the Board
Regular wetting of, the bo�trd,of public saftey was held on monday April 8,
1935 at 8.30.A.M.411`memberw.wer_ present.
Minutes of metting of April lst 1935 wer read and approved.
Requisitions bearing the following members were approved08411 to 08423
Also claims in the amount of 138996 fromthe following suppli- es,Also pay roll
for first halfof april amountingto .16.683.61.
Fire Dept Chief Freeh present
Matters pretaning to his department were discussed.
the chief reported that the edwards iron works proposed to remove the bell
from the tower on the fire station for 125.00.He also reporeed that the
John Beyer & sit &8 Sonts.roffing Co recommended repares to the centeral fire
station roof at a cost of 25.00.The chief was instructed to make the
further investegatigation and report atvnext metting.
The board approved and gave permission to the pension board to hold a.dance
,at playland park.
The following changes in the Fire Dept were ordered by the board.
Capt Leo Hunt.redueed to Lieut.
Lieut Ralph Roberts promoted to Captain.
.Lieut L. Robison demoted to private.
Private Jesse Bryant promoted to lieut.
.It eas moved seconded and carried that these changes be made affective April
15,th and that they are to assingment of the chief of the fire departemeitt
Applications to the Fire department made by George B. Short was ordered
plaveed on file.
Police Department Chief Lane present.
A commummication from the first church of ehrist scientist.-was read request
ing curb marking at the church onthe south side of the buiiding.The matter,
was refered to the chief of police with instructions to investigate and rend
-er such service as in his judgment.is ex pedient.
Request from the Progress Club also from Emil Johnson reference to 113
Monroe St for parking restrictions were considered and the secretary was
instructed to write these people that the Chicago Motor Club in connection
with the enginering Dept is now making a traffic survey of the entirecity
and that their request will have.gonsideration after this survey is
combleted parking in the alley between '4 estern ave and Wayne West. of .Main
St was reported to the chief with instructions to investigate.
The matter of expence of special investigation was brought up and it was d
decided to refer this to the controller with instructionsto pay the claim.
A letter was received from Dr A.A.Kramer and.a claim from the College cash
And market for 15.00.and 16.88.respectively against Homer Ames,the former,
dating back to August 1933 and the latter dating back to iasa.y 1934,
requesting the board to insist upon Officer Ame §paying these bills the mat
-ter eas refered to the chief of police with instructions to inform officer
Ames that the board does not countenance such conduct.
Applications for the the police department werecreceived and ordered
placed on file from the folowing

.electric Dept Mr Qualls,present
Mr Qualls reported that he ==had made an investigation of traffic at Van Bure
-n and cushing Sts where the church of the Brethern requested traffic
proteetion.Ivir Qualls recommended that as his investigation disclosed that.%
there wasnot sufficient to justify the installation of a traffic signal
the signs now on Cushing �t calling attention to dangersous }}* ►I{

. notify the .chief of olive.
IVIr �,ualls reported damage to traffic signal at the S.W. corner of Illichigan
and Washington.St.which was hit and damaged by a truck owned by Steve
Lupa 1821. South Williams St, amounting to X6.35. rir Qualls reported that
.r lupa would come in and pay this claim and the board instructed the
secretary to collect it.
