Regular meeting of the-Board Of Public Safety was called to order by
Chairman Hunter at 6:30 A. M., Monday, February 11,,.1935. All members
present.
Minutes of meeting of February 4th were read and approved.
Requisitions bearing the following numbers were approved: 8223 to
8240 and 8028.
Also claims in the amount of $1303.97 as follows:

FIRE DEPARTMENT— Chief Freeh present.
Matters per-t-fffin-ing to his department were discussed. The Chief brought
up the question of recovery of drowning or drowned persons in the river
and requested per-,--.ission to turn that work back to the Police Depart-
ment where it had been done until the World's Fair when traffic duty
was very heavy. The Board suggested that he confer with Chief Lane
regarding the matter.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - Wm. Qualls present.
Matters pertaining to his department were discussed particularly the
rules of tbe Electrical commission on the regulations of the Fire
alarm syst'em. No action was taken.
POLICE DEPARTT-4ENT - Chief Lane present.
If was moved, seconded and carried that the Police Department be
instructed in all cases when accidents occur to get the following infor-
mation which is necessary for the proper prosecution of the cases:
Name of Witnesses
Name of company if an industrial vehicle
Any distinguishing numbers on truck
Number of State license and name of the State
Name of driver
All information.obtainable regdrding the nature
of the accident.
The matter of signal at Lincoln Way West and William St. again discussed
and action postponed until a later meeting.
The Mayflower Trucking Co, incident .was taken up with Chief Lane, _also
the Western Ave. and Olive St. accident as the evidence obtained was
insufficient to secure a favorable disposition.
The matter of consolidating the garage work of the police department
with that of the Water Works and the employment of a skilled mechanic
was discussed and it was decided another conference of the affected
departments was necessary before definite action could be taken.
The question brought up by Fire Chief Freeh regarding river recoveries
and action was deferred, pending further investigation and a conference
between the Chiefs of the Police and Fire Departments.

The request of the Police roman, Mrs. Minnie Evans, that the Ladies'
Auxilliary of Policemen's wives be permitted to use the squad room
one night a month at eight O'clock was granted and the secretary
wqs instructed-to so notify Mrs. Evans.
Mr. Gaston Tatum of 621 West Y,iar%on St. through the Secretary of fered
a complaint that the Fitterling Trucking Company of 520 N. Scott St.
was parking unrestricted in front of his house which did not permit
him to park his own car and interfered with delivery of coal to his
home. He requested that they be restrained from continuing this
practice. The,matter was referred to the Police Department.
A�letter from K. S. Hermann, President of the Board of Aviation Commi-
ssioners to Chief Lane was read requesting police powers for Capt.
Charles Bowers who has been appointed manager of the airport. The
request was granted.
The matter of an assistant to the Clerk of the Board of Safety and
Board of Works was taken up with Chief Lane -and it was decided -to
release Bert Kochanowski to the Boards subject to call of�the Chief
for,such stenographic work as he might have.
Continuation certificate on the Bond of Officer Claude Keller was
approved by the Board.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 A. H.

Addenda to proceedinms of n eting of the Board of Public Safoty
as of Fobruary 11, 1935:
dilliarn Fsillion, police officer, i:,ho had in 1 °34 had a motorcycle
accident resulting, in the fracture of his right forearms and had been
under the care of City Physician, Dr. E. L. Johnston, reported that
the fracture had never been properly reduced and that it was now in
dangerous condition. Dr:. Thos. Pauszek, the present City Physician,
upon careful examination found it ,,could be necessary to employ a
thoroughly reliable bony: specialist to open up the arm and remove a
portion "of the bone and that it should be done immediately. The
Board instructed that 71m. InTillion and Dr. Pauszek determine upon a
surgeon anal have the necessary work do e at once,
