A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on
Monday January Blst, 3935. at 8:30 A. 11. All. .members were
present. The Tiayor's Secretary also attended.
Minutes of the letting of January 14th were read and approved.
Bills bearing the following requisition numbers were approved.

Demotions were made by motion in the Fire Department as fol-

to take the place of Roy Knoblock, resigned, all changes to
take effect as of Feb. 1st 1935.

The resignation of Roy Knoblock from the Fire Dept. was
accepted on motion.
Wm. Freeh submitted a report of the Firemen's Pension Fund,
showing receipts for the year 1934 to be 40 475.34, and dis-
bursements X17,888.44, leaving a balance of 22,586.90. The
Bond account as of January lst 1935 is $157,914.32, making
a total value of the fund $167,855.28.
The following applications for the Fire Dept were placed
on file:

Electrical Dept.. ism. Qualls present
Tr1Ir. Qualls reported the cost of repairing traffic signal by
4 Alex Wroblewski, who was fined $25.00 and costs and '60 days,
which were suspended. The Secretary was instructed to notify
the City Judge, so he may demand the payment as Dart of the
offender's probation.
The matter of lamp contract for the year 1935 was discussed,
and it was decided to place this patronage with the Electri-
cal Construction Co. on the basis of their competitive bid.
It-was moved, seconded and carried that the reco>>m.endation
of the Mayor be approved that an examination for the position
of City Electrician be held in the Council Chamber on the
first Monday in February at 9 A.M. and t_at proper notice
be prepared by the City Attorney, and that the Secretary
be instructed to properly advertise.

Police Department, Chief L. T. Lane present.
The matter formerly brought before the Board by 11r. Schricker
was discussed. It was decided to leave the matter rest for
another week to give the Chief an opportunity to personally
investigate.
In the matter of the Union Bus Lines, the Chief reported he
favored removing Bus Lines from Michigan St. The matter was
fully discussed, and as it seemed there might be some com-
plications arise if the parking privilege were rescinded, it
was decided that the Secretary be instructed to invite a
representative of the Bus Line to meet with the Board at
its next meeting.
The situation in connection tith.the Police Bond matter was
discussed. Definite decision on the matter was postponed
until a later meeting.
.Applications from several were received for the Police Dept.
.and were ordered placed on file.
.The Secretary offered competitive prices from five dealers
An Tires, E'ubes and Batteries, showing them to be the same.
It was decided to divide the patronage between them.
.Continuation Certificates on:the bonds of Edgard V. Morris
_was approved.
.The Official Bond of Kasimer P. Kubiak ,and of Harry T. Everett
both in the U. S. fidelity and Guaranty Co. of Baltimore
were approved.
A letter from Dick Johnson, complimenting the efficiency of
the Police force in bringing to justice a Harry Williams,
who had held him up at the point of a gun, was read.
The meeting adjournea at 11 :00 A.M.
