Minutes of meeting of Tan. 2nd read and Approved. Bills, bearing the following requisition numbers, were approved: 08024 07964 08010 08021 08008,07968 08009 08002 January also claims of.the following; Ind. & Mich. Elect. Co. $48.98, R. B. Acker M. D.' 25,00, C. L. Millho use $50.00, G. 0. Thurn for 1. N. Hunter $50.00, South Bend Clean Towel Serv. $1.00, Northern Indiana Public Service Co. $.45, a total of all claims of $198.12. POLICE DEPARTMENT: C ief L. T.;Lane present. It was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Woodward that Horace M. Hamilton be appointed Assistant Chief of Police. It was moved, seconded and carried that Sergt. Diver be reduced to private and Bert Olmstead be promoted to Sergeant subject to, assignment by the Chief of Police. It was•moved, seconded and carried that Sam Koczorowski be reduced to patrolman and Charles VanDusen be promoted to a captain subject to assignment by the Chief of Police. It was moved seconded and tarried that it appearing to thin Board that the previous Board of Safety on the 28th day of December, 1934 by its act has.reinstated one Casimir Kubiak to the South Bend Police Force and it appearing to this Board from information by the Clerk and the Chief of Police that there was no vacancy at that time permitting the reinstatement of said Casimir Kubiak and that the quota permitted by the Budget and the appropriation ordinance had been filled at this time, this Board declares the action of the Board of Safety at their meeting on December 281, 1934 to be null and void, an ultra vires.act on the part.of said Board, and this Board orders said reinstatement to be declared a nullity and orders said Casimir Kubiak discontinued from the rolls of policemen% of the City of South Bend. It was moved, seconded and carried that a safety zone be established on the West Side of Olive St. for one hundred feet south of Lincoln Way West. Applications for the following were approved and placed on file; Roy Kauffmans Harry L. Hoffman, Tohn Mitchell Pastor, Earl W. Werntz, -Fred_ V, Slater, Iral L. Winstead, Aaron Prather, Vm. Laver Welch, McKinley ,Werner, ..Flay E. Kile, Louis H. Meilke. f Police Bond for Patrolman Doyal Rhymer was approved by the Board. FIRE DEPARTMENT: re C ief, Freeh, present. It was meved,seconded and carried that Roy Knoblock be placed on the ;.` a oll as a fireman in the South Bend Fire Department at #8 fire P Yr Station effective January lst, 1935. It was moved, seconded and carried that Lieut. Ralph Arehart be promo - ted to Captain to fill the place made vacant by the appointment of gym. Fr�eh to Chief and that Tohn C. Henry be placed as-Lieutonant to fill the place vacated by Ralph Arehart. 3 Applications for the following were approved and placed on file: � `eir N. Parker,.Roland W.
