The Street Commissioner made the following reports.
V Curb at corner of Kea sey :-.nd Carroll Streets should be put in. Clerk was instructed to

v Street Intersection at Pennsylvania Avenue and Carroll Streets also Paris and Carroll
Streets, were reported and were ordered put in by the Board.
Cement sidewalk needed at S.W.cor. of Sycamore and LaSalle Avelaue The same belongs to
the City and was alrdered in.

✓ Hearing given on rolls of awards of damages.and assessments of bene-
fits in the matter .of appropriating a strip of land for the opening and extension
of Huey Street from N. line of Mayr's Lich. Ave. Add. to Elwood Avenue, under
Condemnation Resolution No. '23. In the City of South Bend, Indiana.
In the above matter remonstrators appeared and remonstrances were
filed. The Board took the same under advisement and deferred all action until
Tue s day May 12t h. ,1914 at 10:00 A.M.
Hearing given on roll of awards of damages and assessments of benefits
in the matter of appropriating a strip of land for the opening and extension of
Elmer Street, under Condemnatiol; Resolution No. 24. in the City of South Bend,
Indiana.
In the above matter remonstrators appeared but; no written remonstrance
was ,filed. The Board took the above matter under advisement and deferred all action
on the same until Tuesday May 12th.,1914 at 10:00 A.M.
✓ Hearing given on rolls of awards of damages and assessments of bene-

of Arnold Street, under Condemnation Resolution No. 25. in the City of South Bend:,
Indiana.
In the above matter remonstrators appeared but no written remonstrance
was filed. The Board after due consideration decided to modify the above assess-
ment roll --v-14 a -lowing Wocieeh & Maryanna Ciupinski $75.00 instead of $35.00 as
as per change made on roll filed, with the Board on Tuesday March 24th. 1914 a copy
of waich is in t;nis recgrd on page 293, and the said roll is hereby in &.11 things
ratified,, confirmed and approved, and all action under condemnation Resolution N
25 is hereby concluded.

in tie above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances
were filed. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvement
that the benefits to the poperty and to the City of South fiend, Indiana are equal
to the estimated cost of said improvement Cndthe same are hereby in a+_1 things
ratified, confirr_ied and approved.
Resolved, that notices be published on the 7th., day of May21914
and on the l4tn. , day of May51914 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that
this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to
10:00 A. U. on the 26th., day of May,1914. The Board reserves the right to
reject any or all bids.
The Park Board appeared before the Board relati ,,e to lighting of
l Boulevard on St. Louis Street from South. Bend Avenue to Corby Street. Mr. Greene
asked for Five (5) lights per block instead of three (3) lights. The Board
ordered three (3) lights instead of five (5) lights per block, as decided at
previous meeting.
Petition filed for grade, curb and walk on Oakland Street from
Mishawaka Avenue to south to the St. Joseph River. The same wa-s read and referred
to the City Civil Engineer for investigation.

SIDDEWALK IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO.. 315.
Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,
St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, That .it is deemed necessary to imp-mve Orange
Street from Sadie Street to Olive Street by the grading of both sides of said street'
for the construction of cement sidewalks and cement curbs add the construction of the
same, where the same is not already constructed and such improvement is now order
in accordance with the profile, details, drawings and specifications on file intk
the office of the Department of the Board of Public Works of said C.ty; and such
improvement is now ordered.
The cost of said improvement, including the cost 'of street and alley
intersections, shall be assessed upon the real estate abutting on said Orange Street
. all according to the method and manner_ provided for in an Act of the General Asser:�bly
of the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations," approvd
March 6,1905, and in accordance with and pursuant to the provisions of all ariendatory
and supilemental acts thereto, passed by the General Assembly of the State of
Indiana. Assessments, if deferred, are to be paid in ten equal annual_ installments,
with interest. at the rate of Six per cent per annum. A bond or bonds shall "r:e is—
sued to the contractor in payment of such work, unless the property owners pay said
assessnent before said bond are issued. Under no circumstances shall the City of
South Bend., be, or be held responsible for any sun or sums, due from said property
owner or.own.ers for said work or for the collection_ of the same,. or for the payment
of any bond, bonds, certificate or certificates, issued to said contractor in pay
ment for such work, except for such. Moneys as shall ha ve been actually received by
the City from the assessments for such improvement, or suers moneys as said City is by
said above entitled Act required to pay. All proceedings had, and work done in the
making of said improvement, assessment of property, collection of assessments and
issuance of bonds therefor, sriall be as provided for in said above entitled Act
and amendments thereto.

Resolved by tree Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,
