Regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held: at 2400 P. M
Saturday, February 17, 1934.
All members present.

FIRE DEPARTMENT:
`ire Chief, Rohr A. Knoblock, being confined to his home with illness,
was unable to.be present.
The., a.pplication of Geo. J. Frohmader for reinstatement on the department
was approved and ordered Placed on file.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief of Police, Horace M. Hamilton, was present and reported the
activities of his department and submitted report on the check up of
taxicabs which was ordered placed on file on motion made by 1,,2r. Trost
seconded by Mr. McSorley and unanimously carried.
The following communication was read:
"January 23, 1934
"At 7 :09 p.m. this date the Desk Sergt. received a call from Dr.
Hoffman, 1530 E. Jefferson St. that he had been receiving a number of
calls from a party that was supposed to have his dog. Cruiser No. 1
in charge of officers Vitou and Poure were sent to investigate and they
found that the dog was in the possession of Officer Howard. The
Doctor explained to the officers that there had been several calls that
evening in reference t_o the reward on the dog.
Officers Poure and Vitou went to the Howard residence secured possession
of the dog and turned same over to the wile of Dr. Robert Hoffman. The
dog in question had been missing for three days. Our records do not
show that the Dog Pound had been notified or the police station that the
dog had been recovered."

Officer John Howard was called to the meeting and offerred an explana-
tion of his actions in the above complaint. Inasmuch as his testimony
differred from that of the charge, the Board requested the Clerk to
supboena Dr. Hoffman and have the Officers Vitou and Poure present at
the next meeting.
Special commissions were granted to Louis Meilke, Jeannette Kuespert
and Paul W. =:-.idup.
OA Notion by Mr. Trost, seconded by Mr. McBorley and unanimously carried
that all confiscated slot machines be destroyed. The following machines
were destroyed and the money contained therein turned over to the
Police Pension Fund:

to these minutes.
A. comMunication from the ;State Department of Public Safety'regarding
enrollment in Traffic Safety Contest conducted .by the National. Safety
Council was read and the Clerk was ordered to enter such contest.
ETECTRICAL DEPARTKENT
Superintendent, dim. F. Qualls was present and reported the activities
of his department.
WEIGHTS & MEASURES:
The report of City Sealer, Charles 1. Burns, was read,,approved and
ordered placed on file.
The meeting adjourned at 5,45 P. M.
