City Clerk Kareemah Fowler Announces 82nd Indiana League of Municipal
Clerks and Clerk-Treasures’ Annual Conference and State Board of Accounts
School hosted in South Bend, Indiana
Starting today, the 82nd Indiana League of Municipal Clerks and Clerk-Treasurers’ Annual Conference
and State Board of Accounts School is being hosted here in South Bend at the Century Center, for the
first time in over a decade. Conference attendees will have the chance to explore South Bend, attend a
South Bend Cubs game, and enjoy the river lights during their annual banquet on Wednesday night. The
conference will wrap up after the closing session on Thursday morning.
Mishawaka City Clerk, Debbie Ladyga-Block serves on the conference committee. “I’m excited to bring
the Clerks Conference back to St. Joseph County after 12 years. This is the first of many large
conferences our area will be able to host now that our hotel capacity has so greatly increased in
downtown South Bend,” says Ladyga-Block.
South Bend was able to host the conference this year due to increased hotel capacity, including two new
hotels downtown. In the past, there were simply not enough rooms nearby to accommodate the 400+
attendees. South Bend’s capacity for hosting large events will benefit the city as a whole, not just the
specific hotels. Attendees are dining out in South Bend, they are attending sporting events and exploring
the City.
Terri Buckmaster, Clerk-Treasurer of the Town of Walkerton and President of ILMCT, stated, “I’m proud
to bring 400 elected clerks and clerk-treasurers from across the state to St. Joseph County to showcase
all that we have to offer in my home county. I’m grateful to the professionals in their respective fields
for joining us to train the cities and towns in topics ranging from TIF districts, to government ethics, to
State Board of Accounts School and the Department of Local Government Finance.”
