Ilegular meeting held by the Board of Public Safety, Monday, July 24, 19336
Meeting called I to order by Mr. C. A. Budd, President, at 9-15 A. M.
Bills in the amount of $42.82, bearing requisitions as follows were approv
ed by the Board:

POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Board unanimously agreed that Lincoln Way East be made a preferential
street at the intersection of Miami Street and instructed thd Clerk of
the Board to have a STOP erected on Miami Street at Lincoln Way East*
The Board further ordered that STOP signs be painted on Sample Street on
both sides of the Studebaker driveways.
Chl( f Kuespert requested a leave of absence on August 1, 2 and 3, to
attend the International Convention ,of Chiefs to be held in Chicago. Board
unanimously agreed to grant Chief Kuesperts request.
Chief Kuespert recommended to the Board that, on account of the numerous
accidents to our motorcycle policemen, bars be attached on all motorcyles
similiar to those used. by the State Police. Board instructed Ch of Kuespert
to obtain quotations on the cost of installing the mentioned bars

This bid if accepted is 'subject to tre following conditions.
.Prices named herein shall be subject to being ireased or de
creased as a ny cha rage affecting the present mining rates, sea le of
wages, hours per day and days per week prevailing in the districts
in which said mine cr mines are located may increase or decrease
the cost of producing coal 'during the life of this contract: also'
any National or State taxes hereinafter imposed that may increase
or decrease the cost of producting, shipping, handling, and selling,
coal, shall correspondingly increase or decrease the prices named
herein.
Coal prices are constantly increasing, t1jerefore, we urge you to act
as soon as possible.
The 5th vein coal in mined at Keller, Ind. , Vigo County., The 4th
vein coal in mined at Latta., Indiana, and the trade name is Linton
Supreme
Coal must be paid for in cash lst of month after delivery.

After checking over the above bids the Board finds the averages to be as
follows:

After careful consideration of the above bids, a motion was made by Mr. Gadacz
seconded by Mr. Trost and unanimously carried that the contract for coal
for the Fire Stations be awarded to Lontz Bros., as follows:
320 tons (more or less) at the average price of 4.87 per

ton.
