members present .

Follo?A ng the receipt of a 1 ette r . sent out by the Board of Public Safety
following the meeting which held. by a. special call on Yay 27th. , 1933,
Dr. Bernard J. Bolka, County Coroner and Russell P. Johnson, reporter
of the South B Tribune, appe ^red for questioning. The questioning
being for the purpose of investi.ga ting an alleged conversation that took
place between T'ayor - TTinkle and Chief of Police John D. Kuespert
on the morning of Eay 27th. , 1933.
Dr. Bolka, whon questioned, said : "I did not hear the conversation over
the telephone as 1 had just stepped into the Detective 'ureau when Chief
Kuespert h - -ng up. the receiver of - th. e 'phone. The Chief at that time was
crying and res upset over the tragedy the t 1 1 - PO taken place a short time
before. I know that Tuespert had a- mental breakdown irirhich plight cause a
person to d.o or say anything and at the time he �£roulr not be responsible.'

said: "I azr positive that Chief Y`u.espert was sober. The sight of
Officer Farkas that night upset the Chief anc he was not himself."
Questioned by L.'_r, Budd relative to the 'elleF4 telephone conversation
Russell P. Johnson, Tribune reporter said :"I was in the Detective Bureau
on the morning of Iay 27 1933. I heard Chief of Police John T. Kuespert
conversing over the telephone 1� th some one I presumed that it was T=ayor
Hinkle . The Chief war�D whoever he was talking to not to come to the
City Pall that day. uespert was ve--y pale and appeared to be upset
mentally and' he also appeared to be under to be under great pressure.'f

t this time in the Police Department, two resulting from the murder of
wo officers and the dismisal of a third.
Special Police commission of Victor A. Beagles issued I'ay 8th. , 1933

was cancelled at his own request.
Application of '.. F. Johnson was accepted and approved.
The Board instructed acting Chief Fora',ce I ITamilton to secure a
list of all City licenses issued and places that should be licensed,
and that violators be checked. air -! notified and warrants issued for -
the arrest of those who do not secure lecense after three days notice.
FIRE DEPART-1,1E TT
Chief Roy.. Knoblock presented. the daily fire loss sheets for the
month of February; 1933 and reported the activities of his dejDartment
for the past w ee k.
EMECTRICAL DEPARTIENT
Wm. F. lualls presented the weekly time sheets anc.. reported the'
activities of his department for the past week.
