Board met in regular session. at 10:00 A..H... All members present.
Petition asking for a grade on alley in Shetterley Place filed with the Board. The same
was read and referred to the City Engineer.

We the undersigned for a number of years have put up with being flooded, becomming
a nuisance, on the alley rurming North and South, midway between St. Joseph and Michigan
Sts. in block between. Jefferson. Blvd. and Wayne St. caused by two 6 in. open down spouts
puring contents in alley from C.P.Gish and Studebaker buildings.
We hereby petition your honorable Board to order the above propertyto connect
the above spouts into sewers before November lst.,1913.

✓Bond and contract for pipe sewer on Sunnyside Avenue, _Col fax and LaSalle Avenue , under
Improvement Resolution No. 291. signed by L.H.Webster as prin.icpal and The Title Guaranty
Surety Company of Scranton, Pa. as Surety. was approved by the Board.
✓ Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for Water connections on Marion Street
from Leland Avenue to Scott Street, under Improvement Resolution No. 299. In the City of
South Bend, Indiana.
Resolved , that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for six
coxse cutive days in the South Bend Daily News -Times, Commencing on the Z"t h. , day of
1913 stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments at its
office in the City Hall on the $#th. , day of Actober 1913 at 7:45 P.M.
Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts be accepted

LOCAL SEWER IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION N0. 292.
Resolved by the Board. of Public Works of the City of South Bemd., County
/of St. Joseph, State of In.d.iana, That the construction of a local sewer, intended and ad-
apted only for local use by the property holders whose property abuts thereon, and not ix�-
tend.ed or adapted for ,receiving sewerage from collateral draixs, be and the same is,
hereby
ordered in and a ldxg 5 BLAINE AVENUE FROM VAN BUREN STREET TO QU INCY STREET as follows , t o-
wit:
Bej_Kkix 9a&ttthe center of Blaine Avenge and Val. Buren -Strut, thence
north along the center of Blaine Avenue to the center of Quincy Street t*rith a 12 inch vitri-
fiid pipe sewer. Together with: the necessary zan,holes, inlets and house connections to the
curb lin,e,a"loh.g the line of said. improvement, All as shown on the plans, profiles and
detail drawings on file in the office of the Department of Public Works of the City of
South. Bend, Indiana. _
And such improvement is now ordered, and said sewer, with all its
appurtenances shall be constructed in accordance with the profile and. specifications n.ow ox
file in the office of the Department of Public Works of said City. The cost of said im-
provement shall be apportioned against and paid by the property holders whose property abuts
thereon, and upon the City of South Bend if the .City is benefited by said improvement, all
according to the method and manner provided for in Act of the General Assembly of the State
of Indiana, entitled "An Act Concerning MunicjiAal Cvrporatioxs," approved March 6,1905.
Assessmentsij if deferred, are to be paid in ten equal annual installnexts, with. interest at
the rat* of Six per cent per an.num. A bond or bonds shall be issued to the contractor in
payment for such work, unless the property owners pay said assessments before said bond
or bonds are issued.. Under no cirsumstan.ces shall tie City of South Bead be or he held
responsible fbr any sum or sums due from. said property owners for said work, or for the
collection of same, or for'the payment of any bond or bonds, egrtificate or certificates
i ssued to said emitractor 'in pa,ymeA for such work, except for such moneys as . shall have
been actua ly received by the City from the assessments for such improvem.exts,or such
moneys as said City is by said above entitled Act required to pay. All proceedings had.,
and work done in, the making of said improvement assessment of property, collections of
assessments and issuance of bonds therefor, shall be as provided for in said above exittled
Act.
