The following remonstrance was presented to the Board and was plated on file.
/To the Beard of Public Works of the
City of South Bend, Indiana.
We, the undersigried petitioners, respe ctf°ully represent to your
Tionera,ble Board that we are owners of real estate along Vistula Avenue between
Semple Street and Caroline Street, in the City of South Bend., Indiana: that we be-
lieve the placing of poles in the street along said Vistula, Avenue will be un-
sightly and. dangerous, and to that end we are willing to grantte the Board
of Publia Works and to the Chicage, South Bend & Northenn Indiana, Railway Company
the right to plate poles for trolley wires upon our private property,previd.ed,
such poles are placed immediately east and north of the sidewalk which is or is is
be placed on the easterly r,dd northerly side of said Vistula. Avenue between said
two streets.n
We are also willing for said poles to hold other wires until
such a, time as ether wires shall be plated under ground in, aeeorUnee with present
underground wire ordinances car any amendments or supplements which may be passed -
by the Common Council of said City with reference thereto, when such poles shall
be removed and iron poles placed in their stead.
We believe that said Company should put iron poles in the curb-
ing along said easterly and northerly side of said Vistula. Avenue and. that when
the wires, other than trolley and span wires, are placed underground, the said
poles hereby petitioned to be placed fton, our private property should be removed.
We, therefore, pray your honorable Board to request the said
Railway Company and the owners of other wires and poles to place -their wires -and

the City Engineer for investigation.
Bond and eentraat for censtruetion, of curb and grade on Missoula Avenue from N.
line of Morris Park to S. line of Morris Park,under improvement Resolution. No. 236
signed by T.C.Barnes as prixicipa.l and Harry H. Barnes & Jesse H.Barnes as suretie
was approved by the Boards
Bona and 'contract for Qonstruetion of eurb and grade on Medera Street from N. lino
of Morris Pork to S. line of Morris Park, under Improvement Resolution No.237,
signed by T.C.Banres as prixieipal and Harry N. Barres and Jesse H. Barnes as
sureties, was approved by the Board.

improve High Street from Sample Street to Broadway Street, all .in said City of
South Bend,by construction of pavement, and that it is, and -is -hereby so declared
necessary for the Northern Indiana Gas & Electric Compaa,YW whichha.s, and operates
a under, a franchise from said City to supply gas to the citizens of said City, to
provide aa.ndilsta.11 mains, laterals, service pipes and connections for gas in said
part of said street, of the description , location and number set forth in said. re-
port of said City Engineer, which mains, service pipes and connections are hereby
declared necessary for the immediate use of said Company in supplying gas to the
owners of property abutting upon said part of said street.

On notion duly made and seconded, the following preamble and resolutions were
unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS. This Board did on the llth., day of `February 1913 deem it expedient and
of public utility to permanently improve Prairie Avenue, between Webster Street and Grant
Street, by paving the roadway of the same, and did on said date pass and adopt a resolu—
tion authorizing said permanent improvements, Rnd. _
WHEREAS. The City Engineer has prepared aid filed with this Board a, report of
showing the number a.nd location, as well as the material t
o be used and, the manner of laying
the same, of the service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections which are, or will
be necessary to accommodate the' abutting property owners with gas, water, heat,stean or

improve Pine Street from Napier Street to L.S.&M.S. Ry.all in said City of South Bend, by
construction of bricz - pavement, and that it is, and is hereby so declared necessary for the
Northern Indi€na. Gas & Electric Company, which has, and operates under . a fraenhisee from
said. City to supply gas to t ne citizens of said city, to provide and. install mains, laterals
service pipes and eonneeetions for gas in said part of said street, of the description,locati
and,number :et. forth innsaid report of said City Engineer, which ruins, serviere pipes and
connections are hereby declared necessary for the immediate use of said Company in supply-
ing gas to the owners of property abutting upon said port of said street.

RESODUTION OF TPE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS.
On motion duly made and seconded, the following preamble and resolution
were unainmously adopted:.
WHE REAS, This Board did on the 19th., day of April,1913 deem it exped-
ient €=,nd of public utility to permanently impro ve Dunrwm Street between Harris
Street and Arnold Street,by paving the roadway of the same, and did on said
date pass and adopt a resolution authorizing said permanent improvement, and
' WHEREAS. The City Engineer has prepared and filed with this Board a -report
showing the number and location, as well as the material to be used and the manner
of laying the same, of the service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and eonneetions
which are, or will be necessary to aavommodate the abutting property owners with
gas, water, heat, steam or any other product for which my person, firm or cor-
poration has been granted a franchise far supplying the citizens of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, wnich report is as follow s:-
