SUBJECT: Procurement of 15 Rugged Police Laptops

Linda and Members of the Board
We are submitting for review and approval the purchase/lease of 15 new laptops for use by
Uniform Officers in Police Vehicles. These are the same model as the bulk purchase 2 years
ago. The additional machines are needed because of the addition of officers to the SBPD
Uniform Division. Laptops of retired or reassigned officers are redeployed regularly, but there
are not enough available to cover all officers. These machines will cover all new recruits for
2018.
These laptops will be purchased' with pricing through MHEC (Midwestern Higher Education
Compact — www.mhec.or-.E ) like we did with the previous deployment. They will be, financed

and used over 5 years through the City's 2018 Q1 large equipment lease.
