Motion prevaMed to dispense with. the reading of the
minutes. A motion- of -Mr. Reeder was seconded by Mr. Nicely
requisitions for the Electrical Department Nos. 09729 to 99730
were approved. Report of this Department was ordered placed on
file.
The following applications were `accepted and ordered
olaced on file. .Fire Department, Emil Marshall, Walter Przybysz.
The following for the Poliee Department, Goseph .Walsh, George

Meeting held in the Board of aafety office M nday afternoon at
4 p.m. All members present
Motion prevailed that requisitions be signed and bills for the
police fire department be allowed.

Motion prevailed that Chief of. Police James J. Hatt be
permitted to use gas from the Police barn when using his "`car for
supervision "work. Gar to be used only for supervision work when
police cars are in service.
` Motion .prevailed to place the report of the Wei #hts and
Measures Department on file. Motion was made by Mr.Reeder and
seconded by Mr.wicely ratifying the following changes in the
Police Department; Patrolman Winthers exchanged places with
Detective Diver. Patrolman Pallo exchange place with DETECTIVF.
Wolters. Detective Smith change place with Driver Va,nDusen..
Motorcycle Patrolman Ellis change with Patrolman Rex Risher,
Patrolman Ambs change with Patrolman Nulf. Patrolman Poczesny
to change with Patrolman Wielopolski and Patrolman Wielopolski
to take post now tr by Patrolman Laskowski a nd patrolman
J. Laskowski will patrol beat formerly patroled by Patrolman
Poczesny. Sergt. McMahon will change pl with Sergt. Emil Luther.

a wider selection,thk Board of 'Safety desirEs more men of the right I
type to make application for membership on the policy department.
'We wart vigorous men, cle in their habits; men whose minds con -
stantly will be occupied with thoughts.of service at all times to
the public, men who can think and act gTaickl in all _matters large
or small which have to do with general policy duties. The work of
a police officer should make an appeal to a larger number of men
and..to a higher caliber of men than often _make application for
pollee positions. There is no calling that can render more sub -
stantial service to a community. We mane this appeal knowing there
are many reliable and strong men in South Bend who can develop
into high grade officers, and who will like_ the work when they Q
get into it. We invite citizens to urge men of. kncvn qualifiea- _
tions to seek appointment to the Department:
