2007 South Bend Common Council
The May 14, 2007 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee of the South Bend
Common Council was called to order by its Vice- Chairperson, Council Member Ervin
Kuspa at 5:03 p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Rouse, Pfeifer, Varner and Kuspa
Police Chief Thomas Fautz, Martha Lewis, Mrs. Kopola, Nick Witner, Jamie Loo of the
South Bend Tribune and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney.
Council Member Kuspa noted that the committee members include Council Members
Kirsits, Pfeifer, Varner and himself.
Bill No. 10-07 Rezonin Re nest for 1914 Miami Street
Council Member Kus~a noted that the Council has received a letter from Edward M.
Fisher dated May 14~ (copy attached) requesting that Bill No. 10-07 be continued until
the Council meting of May 29, 2007.
Dr. Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kuspa that Bill No. 10-07 be
recommended to be continued until May 29t" at the request of the Petitioner. The
motion passed.
Bill No. 24-07' Amendin Ordinance No, 97fl8-Ofi
Council Member Kirsits arrived at the Committee meeting, noting that he was delayed
due to a family emergency. He then called for a formal presentation on Bill No. 24-07
Nick Witner of the Department of Community and Economic Development made the
presentation. He noted that the Bill would correct a scrivener's error contained in
Ordinance No. 9708-06. 1t was noted that Deputy City Attorney Sean Peterson worked
with the Council Attorney on this proposed ordinance.
Council Member Pfeifer made a motion, seconded by Dr. Varner that Bill No. 24-07 be
recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. There being no further
business to come before the Committee, Council member Kirsits adjourned the meeting
at 5:06 p.m.
