Applications were received from Frank Rogers & Walter J. Doan
for positions in the Police Department same were ordered placed on file
A letter was received from the Board of 'ark Commissioners
signed by all the mamb era of same asking that this Board appoint
Mr. Arthur J. Audtin as motor- cycle poliveman to patrol the different
parks of this city, which was ordered,placed on file.
The Board went into session as a trial body to hear charges r
prefered against Officer Joseph Szweda, by Chief L.J. Lane.
After reading the said charges, the following witnesses were
duly examined : - Chief Laurence J. Iane,Offieer Frank E. Ransbarger,
arff Sergeant Emil Luther, as well, as. t he defendant Officer Joseph Szweda
and the following appeared in his behfif Herbertr . :b Lederer, Ed.
Keller, Michael Razinski and C. E. P attee. Gerrge L. Rulison Attorney.
The Board then went into ex— n-native session to consider

of the charges As provided bZ law, the sAdd Joseph Szweda is now found
by said Board to be guilty 0 �- Neglect of 'Duty.Ra5 charged
nd is ordered dismissed from the 1roiice force of the City Of South Bend.
Motion prevailed to adjourn.
