MONDAY AFTERNOON, NOON, January 2nd, 1322. Office Board of
Public Safety. Meeting called to order at 12;30 1 - 3 .12.
All members being present, to- Jit; -- l`1. 0. Davies,
Clement S. Smogor and Dan
The Honorable Mayor, Eli F. Seebitt having delivered the
following certificate, re5�Aing• as follows: --

This is to certify that 1 7. 0. Davies, Clement S. Smogor
and Dan - Yyle have filed with me their respective appointments as
members of the Board of Public. Safety of the ".ity of South Bend,
Indiana by Eli E. Se.ebirt, -ayor and each has duly taken the' oath of.
office and said appointments have been filed with

and the Controller of the City of 6outh Bend, having
delivered to said Board as certificate reading as follows, to -it; --
"January 3, 1922.
This is to certify that 01. O. Davies, Clement S. Smogor
and Dan Pyle have filed with me their respective bonds in the sum of
Three Thousand. Dollars each as members of the Board of Public Safety
of the City of South 3end, Indiana, by appointment of Eli P. Seebirt
as wIayor and their respective 'bonds have been approved and filed with
me.

and the same showing that each member of the Board has
fully qualified as required by lair, the 13oa,rd now proceeds to
organization.
Clement S. S-nog°or moved that W. 0. Davies act as the
President of this Board for the term of four ye--�rs, which was duly
seconded by Can I ?yle. Said motion was carried.,
Dan i'yle moved that Paul a. H.eiermann be a.nnointed as
the Clerk of the Board, which xras duly seconded by Clement S. Smogor.
Said motion was carried.
Ol.ement S. Smogor made a motion that Irving W. Sibrel
be duly appointed as mire Chief of the South Bend Tire Department which
was duly seconded by .Dan Pyle. Said. motion vvas carried.
Dan Pyle ~Wade a motion that Laurence J. Vane be promoted
to the position of Chief_ of Police and that Dr. C. .M. Thompson be duly
appointed as Police Surgeon, which was duly seconded by Clement S.
Smogor. Said motion was carried.
Dan Pyle :bade a motion that Paul A. Heiermann, having:
been appointed ,,as Clerk of Board, be instructed to furnish a .bond
in the sum of 45000 X5000 to the City of South Bend, Indiana, within t?
four hours. Said :notion was carried.
Clement S. Smogor made a motion that the position of
Assistant Chief of Police on the Police Department be declared vacant.
Said motion was carried.
Carried. Motion ,;, made, which was duly , seconded to adjourn.
