Meeting called to order at 5 11.11J. All members 'being present.
Minutes of previous meeting was read and approved.
Follvrwing requisitions were presented by Chief Sibrel and
approved by the Board;--
1228-- mattresses
1.229-- supplies
1230-- supplies
1231-- supplies.
Motion -prevailed that application of Albert-Lind for
fireman be placed on file.
Supt. Beaning presented following requisitions which were
ap-orr o ved; - -
27b Salaries for the last half of Oct. 1921.
271-- new rubber cover for the Ford. car.
272-- hardware supplies, paint, etc.,
273-- Electric sup-plies, dry cells, tape, etc.,
274-- wiping solder
275— one fire box door and Flass dowers.
Supt. Beaning presented report of work done by his depart-
ment during week ending, October 19, 1921.
Motion prevailed that a platoon of police and a platoon
of firemen be instructed to attend funeral of Lottie A. Zell to be
held on Sunday October 23, 1921.
Motion prevailed that application of I'li am David Reeser
for -position of policeman be placed on ile.

Meeting called to order at 5 P.1d. All members being present.
ldi,nutes of previous meeting was read and approved.
Bills presented by Chief Sibrel were presented and allowed.
I'dotion prevailed that applications of George A. Glueckert,
harry Thomas, George E. Van Arsdel and Ralph R. Roberts for fireman
be placed on file.
Motion prevailed that Harry Thomas be appointed a member of
Fire Department.
I'vlotion prevailed that Percy Alford be promoted to position of
a Captain of the Fire Department and that Andrew Anderson be promoted to
position of a Lieutenant of the Fire Department.
;Motion prevailed that an ordinance be drafted asking for an
appropriation for employing twelve additional men on the Fire Department.
Chief Sibrel reported the death of Captain Thomas Hartford of
the Fire Department. I
By,unanimous vote the following was adopted;--
"The Board of `_Public Safety in executive session desires to make
a record of the following action;--
RESOT,VED - That the Fire Department of the City of South Bend,
has sustained a serious loss in the death of Captain Thomas Hartford,
whose efficient service extending over a long period of years was
always of the most exemplary character.
The Board therefore wishes to express its appreciation of his
long and faithful service and that a copy of this resolution be spread
upon the records and a copy mailed to his family."
1-lotion prevailed that the petition of Steve V. Paczesny for
appointment as a -policeman be -placed on file.
Idotion prevailed to adjourn.
