City Council Invites Youth to Participate as Members of the South
Bend Youth Advisory Council

The South Bend City Council invites high school students and graduates up to 21 years of age to
apply to become members of the Youth Advisory Council for the 2011 school year.
Since 2004, South Bend high school students have had the opportunity to:
• Interact with school and governmental officials first -hand
• Enhance their citizenship skills by meeting with elected and appointed public officials to
exchangeideas
• Serve the best interests of youth in South Bend
• Initiate and participate in activities such as youth projects, attending City Council
meetings, city board and commission meetings, hosting seminars and developing other
youth initiatives
• Have the opportunity to work closely with the Council Member who appoints the youth
representative
Application forms and related materials may be downloaded from the City of South Bend

required information must be filed with the Office of the City Clerk by Monday, January 31,
2011.
High School Students selected to serve on the 2011 Youth Advisory Council will be
officially sworn in at an upcoming meeting of the South Bend Common Council.
The South Bend City Council is looking forward to working with enthusiastic and dedicated
