HomeMy WebLinkAboutClosing- Abandoned Vechicle & Unsafe Building FundORDINANCE No. a,as-9, Passed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana January 13. 19 g7 Attest: Attest: City Clerk Presented by me to the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana President of Common Council January 14, Ig 97 City Clerk Approved and signed by me / 6 19 ~~ ' ~ ~ ~~~ a Mayor ORDINANCE NO . ~ ~ / ' e AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CLOSING THE ABANDONED VEHICLE FUND AND UNSAFE BUILDING FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND TRANSFERRING THE BALANCES THEREIN TO THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The Common Council of the City of South Bend, upon the recommendation of the State Board of Accounts, has determined that there no longer exists a need to segregate certain funds of the City of South Bend and maintain certain separate funds, and that these funds should be closed and their balances transferred to the General Fund of the City of South Bend. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. That the following funds be closed and the indicated balances, plus all accrued interest, on deposit therein be transferred to the General Fund of the City of South Bend. Fund No. FUND NAME BALANCE 277 Unsafe Building Fund $230,758.00 276 Abandoned Vehicle Fund 108,604.75 TOTAL $339,362.75 Section II. This ordinance shall be of full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval of the Mayor. The State Board of Accounts has advised the City Controller that there exists no need to maintain as separate funds the Abandoned Vehicle Fund and the Unsafe Building Fund, and has recommended that these funds be closed. The attached ordinance closes these funds and transfers their respective balances to the General Fund of the City of South Bend. Your favorable consideration is respectfully requested.
