SPECIAL MEETING
OCTOBER 25, 1978
A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 1978 by Chairman Pro -Tem
Peter H. Mullen, with Mr. Mullen and Mr. Brunner present and
Mr. McMahon absent.
Purpose of the special meeting was to consider a recommendation
to award the bid for the CET.A telephone system. Elroy Kelzenberg,
Director of Employment and Training, was present and advised the
Board that he had reviewed the bids received and was recommending
acceptance of the low bid of Executone- Michiana, Inc. of $19,120
for an Executone Key Touchtone System. Mr. Kelzenberg said he was
making his recommendation on the basis of cost comparison. Executone
was the low bid received and was also low when reviewed over a period
of three, five and ten years. Mr. Mullen inquired about the cost
savings involved and Mr. Kelzenberg said a savings of $20,000 would
be realized in ten years and a savings of $6,000 to $7,000 over a
three -year period. Mr. Brunner made a motion to accept the recommendation
and award the bid to Executone. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it
carried.
