SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 23, 1978
A.-special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 1978 by President Patrick M.
McMahon,.with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Brunner present.
Mr. McMahon noted that the purpose of the special meeting was
for review of bids for snow removal equipment. John: Stancati,
Director of Utilities, had the following recommendation:
That the bid of Deeds Equipment Company, Inc. be accepted
for the snow.equipment with the deletion of units (Street):
Army Unit 1, Army Unit 2, Army Unit 3, Unit 81
for a bid price of $80,593.00. He also recommended that Deeds
bid for the Bureau of Sewers equipment in the amount of $33,744.00
and the Bureau of Water Works equipment in the amount of $13,994.00
be accepted. Mr. McMahon noted that in regard to Deeds Equipment
Company, 90% of the equipment is available immediately. They will
start outfitting the trucks tomorrow and will be completed in four
weeks. Seven V- Blades will be delivered by November 1.
Mr. Stancati recommended that the bid of Seastrom, Inc. for the
Force- Feed.Loader be accepted at a total bid price of $49,888.00.
In regard to the.Force -Feed Loader, Reid - Holcomb's bid was in the
amount of $48,016.00. This bid did not include items that were
included in Seastrom's bid. After adding those, Reid - Holcomb's
bid came to $49,176.00, or $712.00 less than Seastrom. In view
of the fact that Seastrom's bid included some extras and a.two
week delivery date, it was recommended that the bid for a Force-
Feed Loader be awarded to Seastrom. The Board was informed that
personal examination of the Athey Force -Feed Loader model 7 -12
was made and showed it to be a new machine. A notarized affidavit
from Finkbiner Equipment Company was submitted to the Board
stating that the Force -Feed Loader is new and unused at this time.
Mr. McMahon made a motion that the Street Department equipment be
awarded to Deeds Equipment Company immediately. Mr. Brunner
seconded the motion and it carried.
Mr. McMahon made a motion that the Force -Feed Loader, Bureau of
Sewers and Bureau of Water Works bids be awarded, subject to
funding. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried.
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried,
the meeting adjourned at 9:22 a.m.)
