A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
9:30 a.m, on Wednesday, December 19, 1979 by President Patrick
M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Mullen present and Mr.
Brunner absent. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also
present.
AGENDA ITEM ADDED
Mr. McMahon made a motion to add to the agenda the matter of
a house move permit. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it
carried.
APPROVAL FOR HOUSE MOVE RESCINDED
Mr. McMahon made a motion to rescind the approval of a house
move from 721 S. Olive to 1614 Knoblock, based on information
received that the house was moved without a permit and without
proper notification and insurance. Mr. Mullen seconded the
motion and it carried. The house mover, Allen Mitschelen, and
the owner, Robert Corthier, are to be advised of this action
and requested to meet with the Board to discuss this matter.
OPENING OF BIDS - ATRIUM FOR FIRST BANK CENTER
This was the date set for receiving bids for the Atrium for
the First Bank Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication
of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which
were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and
publicly read:

Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone advised the Board that the bids
of Roper IBG and Super Sky, both out -of -state firms, had included.
bid bonds instead of the required certified checks. He noted the
Board has the discretion, since some form of bid security was
received, to allow the firms a period of time to provide the
certified checks. The Board determined that the bids would be
read into the record and the firms notified that they will have
until 9:30 a,m. on Friday, December 21, 1979 to submit the
required certified checks to the Board office. The bids were
then read as follows:

Mr. McMahon indicated engineering estimates for the project were
as follows:
Structural Steel - $255,000.00
Curtainwall and Skylight $1,097,000.00
Quarry Tile $75,000.00
Mechanical - $160,000.00
Electrical - $75,000.00
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and
carried, the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering,
the Construction Manager and C. F. Murphy and Associates for
review and recommendation.
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried,
the meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
