HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/19/1979 Special Mtg Board of Public Works Minutes19'7 SPECIAL MEETING A Special Meeting of the Board of 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and SEPTEMBER 19,1979 Public Works was convened at 19, 1979 by President Patrick Mr. Mullen present. Mr. McMahon reported that the purpose of the special meeting and the only business to be conducted was consideration of the adoption of a resolution authorizing the sale of city -owned property, being a triangular portion of land bounded by St. Joseph Street, Michigan Street and Colfax Street. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the following resolution was adopted and will be transmitted to the Common Council for concurrence: RESOLUTION NO. 22, 1979 WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend has compiled a current detailed inventory of all real property owned by the City of SouthBend, Indiana, pursuant to Chapter 14.5 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend; and WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has reviewed said inventory of real property and it now finds that certain of the parcels 'of real estate now owned by the City are not necessary to the public use and are not set aside by state or city law for public purposes, pursuant to Chapter 14.5 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend; and WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works now wishes to take the necessary action to make it possible for the Board, in the future, to sell said parcels of real estate pursuant to Chapter 14.5 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: 1. That the parcel of real estate owned by the City listed below is:lmot necessary to the public use and is not set aside by state or city law for public purposes: A part of the Northwest Quarter of Section 12, Township 37 North, Range 2 East, City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, described more particularly as follows: Beginning at the intersection of the east boundary of North Michigan Street (US #31) and the north boundary of East Colfax Streetl thence North 89039'37" East a distance of 244.07 feet; thence North 20024'52" West a distance of 53.52 feet; thence northwesterly a distance of 153.59 feet along an arc to the left and having a radius of 253.98 feet and subtended by a long chord having a bearing of North 38026'55" West and a length of 151.07 feet; thence North 56028'59" West a distance of 96.35 feet; thence northwesterly a distance of 56.94 feet along an arc to the left and having a radius of 148.28 feet and subtended by a long chord having a bearing of North 69059'03" West and a length of 56.59 feet; thence South 00028'59" East a distance of 242.50 feet to the place of beginning. Said tract contains 39,958 square feet (0.917 Ac.) more or less, being a triangular portion of land bounded by St. Joseph Street, Colfax Street and Michigan Street. 2. That this resolution shall immediately upon its' adoption be submitted to the Common Council of the City of South Bend, pursuant to Chapter 14.5 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend.
