and Lieutenant Lodyga to the Mechanic's School to be held at Purdue University, West
Lafayette, Indiana on October 30, 31, and November 1, 1956. Permission granted.
There being no further business to come before the Board , the meeting was adjourned
at 10:30 A.M. (DST).

POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Board now approves the recommendation of J. Charles Dutrieuxq Chief of Police
for the promotion of Sgt. Carroll Parfitt to the rank of Lieutenant to be assigned to
the Civil Defense Department.
The Clerk of the the Board is.ordered to advertise for a 3 wheeler bicycle for
the Police Department as per specifications submitted to the Board by Chief of Police.
The application of Mary Virginia Thronton for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol
was examined and placed on file. Special police permits were also approved for Dale E.
Glossenger and Robert Emmett.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
The request of the Fire Chief that Lester E. VanDeWalle be permitted to attend the
St. Joseph County Chapter$ American Red Cross first aid training course in Hershey, Pa.
during November 12 thru 16, 1956 is hereby granted by the Board*
Fire Chief requests permission to send Captain Gisht Carlson$ and Joseph Daley
to Chicago on Thursdays October 119 1956 for evacuation course is granted.
WEIGHT & MEASURES
Bert S. Cichowiczq City Sealer, submitted to the Board the monthly report for
September of the Weights and Measures Department. Accepted and placed on file.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT
Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the Electrical Departments recommends the
installation of 1 4000 lumen light between 210 and 214 North Sheridan at the curb;
,one 4000 lumen light betwien 202 and 208 North Walton Avenue at the curb; two 4000
lumen lights on Corby Boulevards one at 1326 Corby Boulevard and at 1236 Corby Boule-
vard at the alley intersections; Alsop a 4000 lumen light at 900 West Garst Streets
426 Lamont Terraces and on Chapel Lane between Jefferson and Thomas Street at the alley
