000 lumen light at the following locations, 28th Street and Grand Trunk Railroad,
220 West Jefferson Street, Pulaski Street near Dunham Street, Fisher Street near
ebster Street, and two on Pine Street in the 900 block. Board now approves the
ecommendation of the Electrical Department.
Fire Chief requests permission to send Lieutenant Carlson to Purdue University
or one day for a special course on evacuation. Permission granted.
Captain Trevey of the Civil Defense Department appeared before the Board and re-
uested permission to occupy 60 feet in front of the Court House for the purpose of
ublic display on behalf of the observance of Civil Defense Week on Tuesday, Septem-
er 10, 1956 at 1:00 P.M. till 5:30 P.M. Permission granted.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the m eting was adjourned
t 10:55 A.M. (DST).

Ira Hunsberger, Superintendent of the Electrical Department, recommends the following
light installations in line with the Mayor's uniform street lighting program: 4000 lumen
light at 429 South 29th, Street, 27th and 28th Streets at the railroad tracks, 530 South
32nd Street and in the rear of 129 East Ohio Street. He also recommends the following
street lights to be increased from 1000 lumen to 4000 lumen: In the alley between LaSalle
Avenue and Oak Street four lights, in the rear of the alarm station one light and one light
two alleys south, one light in the one hundred block Ohio Street, two lights in the alley
in the alley between Wenger Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, one at Donmoyer and Main Streets
and one at Milton and Columbia Streets. Board now approves the recommendation of the Elec-
trical Superintendent.
Ira Hunsberger requests permission to attend the International Municipal Signal Associa-
tion to be held next week in Denver on September 179 189 19, and 209 1956. Permission granted.

The monthly report for the month of August, 1956 for the Weights & Measures Depart-
ment was accepted and placed on file.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Mr. Morrow of the Kiwanis Club requests permission to use a Fire Department truck
for their annual newspaper drive on Saturday, September 15, 1956. Permission granted.
Irene Dennig of the Registration Department requests permission to use the following
- Fire Stations for registration on October 49 51 69 and 8: Station 3 (old) and 3 (new),
49 52 69 79 99 109 119 12, 13. Permission granted.
Applications for the Fire Department were accepted and placed on file for Richard
William Sipocz.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT
A petition was submitted to the Board f.pr :the Improvement:,of North :Sheridan Street in
the 200 block North by the construction of street lights. Also a petition for the improve -
ment of Walton Avenue by the construction of streetlights. Both petitions are hereby re-
ferred to the Electrical Department.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Applications for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were examined and placed on fife
for Gertrude Margaret Anderson and Gerda Martha Myers.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:30 A.M. (DST).
