All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. H. Slominski, M.D. 5.00 POLICE DEPARTMENT Special police permits were approved for James Shields, Charles Joseph Brugh, and Theodore Kazmierczak. Police Chief Dutrieus appeared before the Board and requested permission to attend the International Association Police Convention in Chicago, Illinois on September 9 thru September 13, inclusive. Also requests permission to attend the Shakspearean Session in Canada on August 14 and August 159 1956. Permission granted. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT A petition for the installation of 2 street lights on East Ohio Street from Michi- gan Street to Carroll Street was submitted to the Board. Referred to the Electrical De- partment. Also, referred to the Electrical Department was a petition for street lights from the 500 block 33rd Street to the 600 block 33rd Street. A petition for the disability pension from the Firemen's Pension Fund as present- ed by Ira L. Hunsberger for a monthly pension of $216.19 or 55 percent of a fully paid first class firemen's salary has been found acceptable by the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension Fund. The Board hereby approves and accepts the said petition, and is effective as of September 11 1956. Ira Hunsberger recommends the following light installations: 4000 lumen light at Bloomfield Place and Fored Street, Sunnyfield Place & Ford Street, Rowantree Place and Ford Street, Rowaatree Place & Clearview Place, Sunnyfield Place., & Clearview Place, Albert Avenue and Sample Street, Delaware & Phillipa Streets, Calvert & Phillipa Streets, Indiana Avenue and Phillipa Street and Fareman & Carroll Streets. Board now approves recommendation of Electrical Superintendent. FIRE DEPARTMENT The applications of John Stevens Jr. and Eugene J. Mrozinski, Jr. for the Fire De- partment have been examined and approved and the Board hereby accepts said Stevens and Mrozinski as members of the Fire Departmen; their service beginning the 1st day of Aug- ust, 1956. Fire Chief Andrzjewski requests permission to send 2 additional men, Captains Hoffman and Gish to Fire State School at Purdue University. Permission granted. The monthly report for the month of July, 1956 was accepted and placed on file, of the Weights & Measures Division. The time now being 10:00 AM.. (DST) it was so announced and the bids for the Fire-: °, Department were Rpened. Proof of publication in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with an affidavit signed by W. De Canio was submitted to the Board and found sufficient.
