A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, July 23, 1956

'FIRE DEPARTMENT
Fire Chief Andrzejewski appeared before the Board and matters pertaining to his
Department were discussed.
The Clerk of the Board was ordered to advertise for 1 truck, 2 4 -door sedans,
and hose for the Fire Department according to the specifications in the directive
submitted to the Board by Chief Andrzejewski.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT
Ira Hunsberger, Superintendent of the Electrical Department appeared before the
Board and matters pertaining to his department were discussed.
Ira Hunsberger recommends that a 4000 lumen light be installed at the following
locations: Marshall & 33rd Streets, 120 South 33rd Street, 730 North Cleveland Avenue,
Midway in the 2000 and 2100 blocks of Portage Avenue and at Indiana Avenue and Arnold
Street. Also 2 4000 lumen lights on Dale Street between Indiana Avenue and Broadway
Street. Board now approves Ira Hunsberger's recommendation. It is also the recommenda-
tion of the Electrical Superintendent that the lights at the following locations be in-
creased from 1000 lumen to 4000 lumen: 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, 31st, 33rd, and 34th, all
at the Grand Trunk railroad tracks, three lights each on Ohio, Keasey, Elder and Paris
Streets between Michigan and Carroll Streets and on Arnold Street between Indiana Avenue
and PraftEeStreet.
The application of the retirement of Ira Hunsberger, Superintendent of the Elec-
trical Department, was accepted and approved by the Board. Effective as of September 11
1956.
Applications for the Police Department were approved and placed on file for Samuel
Gorbacz.
Applications for the Fire Department were approved and placed on file for Gerald
Norman Krueger and George Edward Metz.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the me ing was adjourned
at 10: 25 A.M.
