A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday, May 14, 1956
at 10:00 A.M. (DST). All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meet-
ing were read and approved. Claims in the total amount of $14,525.90 were approved
and ordered paid for the following suppliers:

POLICE DEPARTMENT
Police Chief Dutrieux having appeared before the Board and matters pertaining
to his Department were discussed.
Police Chief Dutrieux recommends that Sergeant R. Badics be demoted to the rank
of Patrolman. It is also the recommendation of the Police Chief that Officers A. Krupa
and J. Walsh be promoted to the rank of Sergeant. The Board now approves the Police
Chief's recommendation and is effective as of May 16, 1956.
Special policemen bonds were approved for Jay A. Guy and James Evans Harness.
Bert S. Cichowicz, City Sealer, requestes permission to attend the 41st National
Conference on Weights & Measures in,Washi:ngton D. C. which will be held on May 21, 221,
23, 24, and 25, 1956. Permission granted.
Ira Hunsberger, Superintendent of the Electrical Department, recommends that
the proposed arterial street lighting on Miami Street from Ridgedale Road to Ireland
Road be approved. Board approves Mr. Hunsberger's recommendation.
The appointment of Eugene Walentine Sikorski -for the Police Department of the
City of SouthBend, Indiana was approved by the Board. Said Sikorski having passed the
-necessary examinations as'reguired by the City, his Appointment now becomes effective
as of May 16, 1956.
A petition was received to install a street light in the 400 block of Tuxedo
Drive to Ironwood Drive. Petition referred to the Electrical Department.

Applications for the Police Department were examined and placed on file for
ante N. Colza, Jr.
Applications for the Fire Department were examined and placed on file for Steve
Baba, Michael Medich, Frank Louis Wieczarek, and Kenneth A. Burke.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the,�meeting was ad-
ourned at 11:15 A.M. (DST).

MAY 17, 1956
A special meeting'of the Board of Public Safety was held on Thursday, May 17,
it 11:30 A.M. (DST). All members were present.
The Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension Fund submitted to the Board a
etition for a service pension from the Firemen's Pension Fund for Henry Fred Brandley.
he Board now accepts and approves the petition and payment of said pension shall be-
ome effective as of June 11 1956.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was ad-
iourned at 11:45 A.M. (DST).
