All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Engineering 100.25 Weisberger Bros, Inc. 5.95 FIRE DEPARTMENT Fire Chief Andzejewski appeared before the Board and matters per- taining to his Department were discussed. Fire Chief requested permission for William Downes to attend Ar- son School at Purdue University on the 24th and 25th of April, 1956. Permission granted. Request of Carl B. Ledderrer to attend Civil Defense Duty for 2 weeks beginning April 16, 1.956 to April 30, 1956 was granted by the Board. POLICE DEPARTMENT This being the date set, hearing was held on Officer Carl Moore, Jr. who is being charged for violation of Regulation 12 of the Rules and Regu- lations of the South Bend Police Department. After discussion by the Board members, the following finding was made: That said Carl Moore, Jr. be suspended from Police Duty for a period of 2 weeks beginning on April 17, 1956 to April 30, 1956 ipclusive, and that he return to police duty on the 1st of May, 1956. But, for fine of additional penalty, Said Moore will have Z' of his monthly salary deducted for four (4) mo nths. Officer Moore pleaded guilty to this charge. With reference to the hearing and finding on April 16, 1956 of Officer Poelvoorde, the Board now makes the following change: That said Poelvoorde be suspended from Police Duty for a period of 30 days instead of 60 days and return to active duty on May 5, 1956. For the additional penalty, $50.00 will be deducted from his salary monthly until the fine is paid. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT Ira Hunsberger, Superintendent of the Electrical Department, recommends that a 6000 lumen light be installed in the 1800.block of Portage Avenue on pole number J210 -125. Board approves Mr. Huns - berger's recommendation. Ira. Hunsberger recommends that a 4000 lumen light be installed at Sampson and Fox Streets, 30th and Nursery Court, Douglas and Bruce Streets, Calvert and Walnut Streets, Rust,and Dayton Streets, Walsh and Miner Streets, Notre Dame and Sorin Street, Wall Street, 300 ft. west of Greenlawn Avenue, and Otsego and Pokgan Streets. The monthly report of the Police Department was accepted by the Board and filed. The time now being 10 :30 A.M.(DST) it was so announced and the bids for the Electrical Department were opened. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune on the 13th and 20th days of April, with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record on the 13th and 20th days of April with an affidavit signed by W. DeCanio was submitted to the Board.
