Permission granted. FIRE DEPARTMENT 1 1 The monthly reports of injuries of the South Bend Fire Department for January and February, 1956 were accepted and filed by the Board. 6 At the meeting of the Board of Public Works & Safety on February 20, 956, Mr. Charles J. Kalil's request of November 1, 1955 for a yearts leave f absence from the Fire Department because of the illness of his son was next discussed by the Board. The Board directed that a letter be sent to alil requesting that he submit to the Board proof of the illness of his on. A reply of the letter had been sent to Irving J. Smith, Chairman of he Board notifying him that the said Kalil does not plan to come back to outh Bend and that his leave of absence be terminated. Resignation of aid Charles J. Kalil as of November 1, 1955 was approved by the Board this 5th day of March, 1956. The monthly report from the City Sealer, Bert S. Cichowicz for the month of January was accepted by the Board and filed. Applicationt for the Fire Department were examined and filed for the following: Francis Anthony Gruza, Eugene Joseph Wozny, Stanley Dominic para.zynski, and Patrick Jerome Klaybor. Applications for the Police Department were examined and filed for he following: Richard Claude Brown, Chester Casmier Kregger, Jerry Ray - ond Szweda. The application for Auxiliary Police School Patrol was examined and ordered filed for Helen Marie Gang. There being no further business as adjourned at 10;40 A.M.
