SPECIAL MEETING
January 1, 1956.
A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on
Sunday, January 1, 1956 at 1 :30 P. M.
Elections were held, and Irving J. Smith was nominated as
Chairman. Nominations were closed.
The Board Recognizes J. Charles Dutrieux as Chief of Police.
The Board Recognizes Alex Andrejewski as Chief of Fire
Department.
The Board Recognizes Anthony Sabo as Clerk of Board of Public
Works and Safety.
The Chief of Police submitted a list of prospective promotions
and demotions. Made part Of record.
All promotions and demotions accepted as of today, aanuary, 1,
1956.
POLICE DEPARTMENT.
The Board of Public Works and Safety, holding a special meeting
January 1, 1956, have acted upon the following promotions and demotions
within the organization of the Police Department, as recommended by
Mayor Edward F. Voorde and the Chief of Police, and such promotions
and. demotions are to become effective immediately.
PATROLMAN R. BIRKHART promoted to rank of Assistant Chief.
DETECTIVE SGT. J. PORTE, promoted to rank of Captain and to
assume,command of the Detective Division.
PATROLMAN C. ZIELINSKI, promoted torank of Captain assigned
to Patrol Division assuming the position of Station Commander of the
First ,Detail.
PATROLMAN L. HADRICK, promoted to rank of Captain, assigned to
Patrol Division assuming the position of Station Commander of the
Third Detail.
SERGEANT S. CIESIELSKI, promoted to rank of Lieutenant, assigned
to Patrol Divieion assuming the position of Station Commander of the
Second Detail.
PATROLMAN J. KLAYBOR, promoted to rank of Lieutenant, assigned
to Traffic Division.
SERGEANT E. HANYZEWSKI, promoted'to rank of Lieutenant,' assuming
command of Juvenile Division.
PATROLMAN C. BOROWSKI, promoted to rank of Lieutenant, assuming
command of Special Investigations Unit.
DETECTIVE SGT. E. NOWAK, promoted to rank of Lieutenant, assigned
to Detective Division,
PATROLMAN J. KASPRZAK, promoted to rank of Lieutenant, assuming.
command of Records Division.
DETECTIVE SGT. A ORBAN, promoted to rank of Lieutenant, assuming
charge of Training.
PATROLMEN E. NOVA & R. PASALICH, promoted to rank of Sergeants,
and to report to Captain Zielinski for assignment, 10 :45 P.m.
