December 27, 1955
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Tuesday,
December 27, 1955, at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of
the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following
suppliers, in the total amount of $12;269.03, were approved and ordered
paid:

Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen, was present to discuss with the Board
matters pertaining to his department.
The Police Department application of Paul P. Strominski was examined
and ordered filed.
The monthly report of the Police Department for November 1955 was
examined and ordered filed.
FIRE DEPARTMENT;
Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, placed with the Board the
Firements.Pension Fundts acceptance for member ship of Richard V. Brekrus,
carrying the medical examiner's report of J. P. English, M.D., dated
December 1, 1955. These papers were examined and ordered to be placed with
this fireman's service record.
The Fire Department application of Peter P. Strominski was examined
and ordered filed.
Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, the Board then
appointed Nicholas G. Maroszan as a probationary fireman, effective December
28, 1955, s#bject to this applicant passing satisfactorily the required
physical examinations.

ELECTRICAL DEPART i N`I' :
Superintendent Ira Hunsberger, being present, recommended to the
Board the installation of three L�000 lumen lights at the following
locations:
Elwood Avenue & Iowa Street
Keller and Iowa Street
Between 1602 and 1522 N. Iowa Street
The Board approved the above installations.
A petition for improved street lighting at the intersections of Huey and
tergan Streets, and Huey and Pershing Streets, was examined and referred
o Supt. Hunsberger for investigation and report.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
neetin.g was adjourned at 11 :05 A. M.

A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was called at
10 :00 A. M. Wednesday, December 28, 1955, for the purpose of filling
three existing vacancies in the Police Department. All members were
present.
Chief of Police, Richard J. Gillen, being present, recommended to the
oard, the appointment of Robert A. Buzolich, Florian J. Szuba, and Daniel
. Pejza, and advised the Board that all three men had successfully passed
he required physical examinations.
There�`being no dissenting opinion, the Board unanimously approved
he appointments, to become effective, Thursday, December 29, 1955,
ubject to the usual probationary nine - months period.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
eeing was adjourned at 10 :10 A. M.
