A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday,
December 12, 1955., at 10:00 A. M., All members were present. Minutes
of the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following

Police Chief, R. J. Gillen appeared.before the Board and recommended that
'the following applicants be appointed to the Police Department, effective
this date.
Loren M. Bussert Ervin J.. Gerschoffer
Kenneth E. McDonald Carl Moore, Jr.
Niespodziany Edmund Joseph J. Radecki
Max A. Reeder Russell D. Ryker, JR.
Richard P. Thomas Keith Zeider
All of the above applicants having successfully passed the required
physical examinations and having been accepted by the Policements PeAsion
Board, the Board approved the ten appointments, effective December 12,
1955, subject to the usual probationary period.
Police Application of Daniel Aloysious Pejza was examined and ordered
filed.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Chief, Richard J. Duck, filed with the Board a letter accompanied by
an examination report from the City Physicah, W. J. Stogdill, M.D. ,
recommending the retirement of Fireman Alex Sikorski, as the medical
report states that he is unfit to perform the duties of a fireman.
After some discussion the Board requested that Fireman Sikorski show
cause, if any, why his retirement should not become effective December
15, 1955, on or before the next regular meeting of the Board.

The Board examined application of Gaston Joseph Talboom, for the
ire .Department and same was ordered placed on file.
TRICAL DEPARTMENT:
Upon the recommendation of Mr. Ira Hunsberger, the Board approved
he installation one 4000 lumen overhead light and eight 6000 lumen
ights on Bendix Driave from Bertrand Street to. the South Shore tracks
eplacing the twenty boulevard lights which have been unsatisfactory.
Installation of a 4000 lumen light on the northwest corner of
rookfield and Pershing Streets was approved by the Board, upon the
ecommendation of Mr. Hunsberger.
A petition, under date of December 5, 1955, was filed with the
oard, signed by several residents on East Ewing Avenue, for better
ighting in the vicinity of Riley High School and the Golf Course., This
as referred to Mr. Hunsberger for investigation and report.
The board examined report of summary of tests made during the
nth of November, 1955, by Bert S. Cichowicz,- Inspector of Weights and
asure s, and' ordered same placed on file.
The Fire Department Injuries Report for November was examined
d `ordeed "plated on _file.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
eting was adjourned at 11:45 A.,M.
