romotion of Lieutenant Rudolph Pinter to;the rank of Captain and Fireman
oseph Zurat to the rank of Lieutenant.
The Board complied with the Fire Chiefts recommendation and these
omotions were so ordered, to become effective December 1, 1955-
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:
A letter from the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company, under date of
November 18th, in the matter of street lighting on Olive Street, between
Western Avenue and the New York Central Railroad, addressed to City
ngineer, R. S. Andrysiak, was then read, discussed and referred to
uperintendant Ira Hunsberger, together with Indiana & Michigan Electric
ompanyts drawing No. T -3 -1919, for investigation and report.
The recommendation of Superintendent Hunsberger for the installation
f a 4000 lumen light on the south side of street, between 522 and 526
est Colfax Avenue, was approved by the Board.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
eting was adjourned at 11 :50 A. M.

Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen, was present and brought to the
attention of the Board, the recent conviction of Earl Stacher on the charge
of assault and battery. Considerable discussion followed in this matter.
The Monthly Report of the Police Department for the month of October was
examined and ordered filed.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:
Superintendent Ira Hunsberger, being present', brought to the.
Boardts attention his departmentts'need for a quantity of Crouse -Hinds mater-
ial totaling in excess of $600.00. 'Funds being available to provide these,
supplies, the Board directed tie Clerk to proceed with the purchase
accordingly.
Superintendentts Hunsbergerts recommendation for the installation
of a 6000 lumen light to be mounted on Pole J- 261 -76 on Ironwood Drive,
between Jefferson Boulevard and the Grand Trunk Railroad, was considered
and approved.
Installation of three 4000 lumen lights to be installed at the
following locations were recommended by Mr. H'unsberger and approved by
the Board:
Intersection of Lakewood Drive and Brookton Drive
Intersection of Lakewood Drive and Norton Drive
Midway between 1221 and 1215 Lakewood Drive.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Fire Chief, Richard J. Duck, being present, recommended the granting
of retirement on disability pension of Captain George K. Geltz, at the Cap -
tains's request, and advised the Board of the medical examiners report
that Captain Geltz is no longer physic.ally fit for duty as a fireman. Chief
Duck further recommended the promotion of Lieutenant Raymond Arendt to the
rank of captain and-his transfer to fill vacancy brought about by the
retiro- nt of Captain Goltz. The Board approved the Chiefis recommendation
and it was so ordered, to become effective December 1, 1955•
Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, then brought to the Boardts attention the
Fire Department's need for additional personnel, recommending the appoint-
ment of the following applicants:
Edwin V. Bottorff Raymond S. Ewald
Harry J. Doyle Louis M. Hedl
William H. Dyer Thomas L. Latimer
Anthony Romeo
The Board approved.the appointments, effective December 1, 1955,
subject to the regulation probationary period of six months.
The time now being 11;00 A. M. G,S.T., it was so announced and the
Board proceeded to open the single bid received in response to legal
advertising to provide one new four -door sedan for the Fire Department.,
Bid was found to be as follows:
Scherman- Schaus- Freeman Co. A non- collusion affidavit .and
South Bend, Indiana. cebtified check for $180.00
Accompanidd the bid.

Bid was accepted and contract awarded to Scherman - Schaus- Freeman
Company. The Clerk was directed to issue formal purchase order accordingly.
