Stogdill, M.D. 31.80 SLICE DEPARTMENT: The Board first considered the Police Department need for two mobile combination radio and transmitters, and finding the equipment offered d price to be satisfactory, directed the Clerk to proceed with the purchase in accord with Police Department Requisition No. 1478. Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen, being present, recommended to the Board, the promotion of Patrolman Nester P. Stachowicz to the rank of- Detective Sergeant, effective November 16, 1955, to fill vacancy presently existing in that rank. The Board approved the promotion accordingly. Chief Gillen next recommended to the Board, the appointment to the P lice force of the following four applicants, all of whom have successfully passed the required physical examinations and have been accepted by the P lice Pension Board; Robert J. Bella Ladislaus J. Borkowski -Leonard Brooks, Jr. Ralph J.-Wolfe. The Board approved the four appointments, effective November 16, 1955, s bject to the usual probationary period. The Police Department applications of Leon E. Allison, William E. Brien, and Kenneth E. McDonald were examined and ordered placed on file. FIRE DEPARTMENT: Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, br ught'to the Boardts attention his departmentts need for a new four door sedan. Funds being found to be a ailable to provide this equipment, the Board directed the Clerk to proceed with the required legal advertising for bids. The Fire Department applications of Thomas L. Latimer, James 0. Root, Ro ert C. Rybak, and Frank L. Watkins, were examined and fi e. , ordered placed on TRICAL DEPARTMENT: The recommendation of Superintendent Ira Hunsberger for the installation of a 000 lumen light on South Franklin Street, at the alley between Nos. 1124 ;2-Lo and 1126, in accord with petition, dated, October 31, 1955, was approved by the Board. Petitions, dated November 8th and 14th, calling for improved lighting on Lakewood Drive and Ironwood Drive respectively, were next examined and referred to Supt. Hunsberger for investigation and report. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A. M.
