The Police Department application of August K. Brenner, Jr- was
ned and ordered placed on file.
Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen, being present, broi:g ht to the Board's
attention his departmentts need for an electric typewriter. Funds being
available to meet this need, the Board authorized the purchase and
directed the Clerk to proceed accordingly.
Time for the opening of bids was then announced, and the Board
roceeded to open the single bid received to provide the Police Department
ith one -three wheel motorcycle, which was found to be as follows:

for $190.00 accompanied
the bid.

There being no other bids, and the bid of Harley Davidson Sales
eing found satisfactory and in order, contract was awarded accordingly,
nd the Clerk was directed to issue formal purchase order for the
quipment.
There being no other business to come before the Board, the
eeing was adjourned at 11 :40 A. M.

A regular meeting of the Board -of Public Safety was held Monday,
October 24, 1955, at 10;00 A.-M. All members were present. Minutes of
the previous meeting were read and approved. Salary claims, in the
total amount of $83,369.52, were approved. Claims of the following
suppliers, in the total amount of $14,498.42, were approved and ordered
paid:

FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Board, Attorney Arthur A. May, who was
of the deferment granted chief of Police
bill of particulars pertaining to his
Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, informed the Board that the
drivers for the current supplier of gasoline are failing to contact the
officer in charge at the Fire.Station until after dump has been made,
thereby preventing the gauging of the dump as required by Fire Station
operation procedures. The Clerk was directed to notify vendor immed-
iately that drivers must comply with and cooperate in the required
delivery procedure.
ELECTRICAL ,DEPARTMENT.. Super- intendent ir_a -Runsb- erger,.be3ng preaelit
reported on,a survey._made by him for the.- .improved lighting of Eddy
Street from Jefferson Boulevard to Madison Street, and recommended to
the Board the installation of ten 6000 lumen lights on the east side
of Eddy Street, equally spaced to light the four blocks involved,
with one 10,000 lumen light to be installed on the northeast corner
of Jefferson and Eddy Street, in uniformity with the lighting on
Jefferson Boulevard, west from Eddy Street. The Board approved Supt.
Hunsbergerts recommendation and directed that.he proceed accordingly.
Superintendent Hunsbergerts recommendation for the installation
of a 4000 lumen light on the northeast corner of Meade and Keller
Streets was approved by the Board.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
The Police report of Officers Thompson and Flowers, signed by
Thompson, (C- 47308) dated October 18, 1955, covering accident involving
Car No. 2, which occurred at the corner of Washington and Michigan
Streets, at 3 :30 A. M. that date, was examined and referred to:the
City Controller,
The Police Department application of Joseph W. Toth was
examined and ordered placed on file.
Police Department Report for the month of September was examined
and ordered filed.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned at 11;30 A. M.
