A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday,
my 18, 1955, at 10 :00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the
revious meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following suppliers,
'n the total amount of 05141.78, were approved and ordered paid:
Then appeared before the Board, Mrs. George N. Georgalas, 251 N.
Edison Avenue, and Mrs. B. F. Cukrowicz, 256 N. Gladstone, registering
c mplaint in regard to the racing of automobiles on Linden Avenue and
F llmore Road. It was pointed out that portions of this highway, east of
Mayflower Road, are within the jurisdiction of the State Police, and that
the City does not have sufficient Police personnel for patrolling these
distant areas in the degree conditions, at certain times, would justify.
The Board informed the complainants, however, that an effort will be made
to arrest speed violators in this area, with a view to eliminating the
11 acing" now in practice.
The Police Department applications of Walter J. Borkowski and Richard
-�P. Thomas were examined and ordered placed on file.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Then appeared before the Board Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, and brought to the
Bo rdts attention the urgency for the advertising for bids to supply a new
Pumper of which the Department will be in need with the advent of winter
weather. The Chief pointed out the fact this equipment requires a minimum
of 120 days to effect delivery. The Board directed the Clerk to proceed with
th necessary legal advertising.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: X
A petition, dated July 11, 1955, bearing more than twenty signatures,
for the installation of a street light at the intersection of N. Wellington
Street and W. Colfax Avenue, was examined and referred to Superintendent
Ira Hunsberger for investigation and report.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this meeting
the Board, thereupon adjourned at 11:30 A. M.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:
Supt. Ira Hunsberger first appeared before the Board and took up with
the Board various matters pertaining to his department.
The failure of city- employee Stanley Piasecki to report back for
duty July 13, as scheduled, and his absence on the 14th, 15th, and 21st,
as well was reported by the superintendent. The Board approved deduction
from salary check for the four days of Piaseckits absence, in accord with
Supt. Hunsbergerts recommendation.
Petitions, dated June 1, June 27th, and July 20th, respectively, for
street lighting, were examined and referred to Supt Hunsberger for
investigation and report, for the following locations:
Kenmore Street from Keller Street to Bulla Street
North Reyer Street from Elwood Avenue to Keller Street
Intersection of E. Colfax Avenue and Ellsworth Place.
PJIr. Hunsbergerts recommendation for the installation of a 4000 lumen
light at each of the following locations, was approved by the Board:
Alley intersection on the south side of Vlestmoor,
at the edge of Bend--x Park
