June 29, 1955
A special meeting of the Board of - Public Safety was held in the office
of the Board at 9:00 A. M. C.S.T., Wednesday, June 29, 1955. Mr. J. A.
Bickel was absent.
The Board reviewed the applications of the following Fire Department
applicants:
Lowell E. Badman
Richard E. Benninghoff
Gerald A. Kazmierczak
Raymond L. Kowalski
Donald E. Whitacre
Bernard R. Zmyslo
Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, and no objections being offered
the Board appointed these six applicants as probationary fireman, effective
July 1, 1955, subject to physical examinations by.the City Doctor, and
by the-doctor for the Firements Pension Fund, proving satisfactory.
There being no other business to come before the Board at this time,
meeting, thereupon adjourned.

A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Tuesday,
July 5, 1955, at 10:00 A. M. Mr. J. A. Bickel was absent. Minutes of
the previous regular meeting and also special meeting were read and
approved. Salary claims in.the amount of 081,558.95 were approved.-,.Claims
of the following suppliers, in the total amount of $2670.53, were approved
and ordered paid:

First appeared before the Board Assistant Chief A. A. Vargyas, and
brought to the Board's attention the Fire Department's need for 500 ft
of 1N" Fabric Fire Hose. Approval was given and the -Clerk was directed
to proceed with the purchase.

Authorization was also granted by the Board for the release of
Purchase Order BW 8015, covering 250 feet of Booster Hose, of which the
department is in urgent need.
The Fire Department application of Ralph S. Rakowski, dated June 21,
1955, was examined and ordered filed.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen,,being present, recommended to the
Board the granting of leave of absence to Captain Clem Hazinski and
