June 20, 1955
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday,
June 20, 1955, at 10:00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the
previous meeting were read and approved. Salary claims$ in the total
amount of $81,931.67, were approved. Claims of the following suppliers,
in the total amount of $3019.03, were approved and ordered paid:

FIRE DEPARTMENT:
The Board first read and ordered filed letter received from the South
Bend Firemants Association, under date of June 13, 1955, expressing
"thanks" of the Association for the granting of the 'tten days on - one
day off" work system for the Fire Department.
A letter from the Firemen's Pension Fund, under date of June 14, 1955,
stating that upon recommendation of Dr. R. W. Spenner, medical examiner,
the Fund's Board of Trustees unanimously accepted the membership appli-
cations of Marshall E. Brodbeck and Frank G. Koloszar, Jr., was read and
ordered filed.

The Fire Department Application of James J. Smuda, bearing date of
June 1, 1955, was examined and ordered placed on file.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
The Police Department Application of Kenneth E. McDonald was examined and
ordered placed on file.
The Police Auxiliary School Patrol application of Virginia N. Kline
was examined and ordered placed on file.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:
Supt. Ira Hunsbergerls recommendation was approved for the installation
of a 4000 lumen light at.each of the following locations:
Jennings and Addison - southwest corner
Teri and Addison - southeast corner
Teri and Fellows - northwest corner
Barbie and Fellows - southwest corner
Barbie and Addison - southwest corner.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 11 :20 A. M.
