June- 2, 1955
A special meeting of the-Board of , Public. Safety was held ifi'- the
office of the Board, Wednesday, June 2, 1955, at 9:45 A. M. CST. Mr.
J. A. Bickel was absent.
Fire Chief, Richard J. Duck, appeared before the Board and reported
that an error was made in demoting Lieutenant Alex Niespodziany from
lieutenant to private, as of June 1, 1955.
The Board, accordingly and unanimously decided
demotion of Lieutenant Niespodziany, and restore him
of June 1, 1955 •

Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief, Richard J. Duck, Lieutenant
Ted Kanczuzewski of- Engine Company No. 8 was demoted by the Board to
the rank of private, effective June, 15, 19S5.
There being no further business to be brought before this meeting,
the meeting was adjourned at 10 :55 A. M.

A regular meeting of the Board of Public 'Safety was held Monday,
June 6,'1955, at 10 :00 A. M All`members'were present. Minutes of
the previous regular meeting and also special meeting were read and
approved. Salary claims, in the total amount of $82,473.60, were.

Upon the recommendation of Mr. Hunsberger, Electrical Superintendent,
the Board approved the installation of a 4000 lumen street light on
the southwest corner of Peashway Street and St. Louis Boulevard,-and
a 4000 lumen street light on the northeast corner of Hill and Peashway
Streets.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Next appeared before the "Board, Police Chief, Richard J. Gillenp .
recommending the appointment as special police officers in and'for
the City of South Bend, Indiana and the Bendix Aviation Corporation

The Board approved the above appointments upon the recommendation
of -Chief Gillen.
Police Department Applications for Keith Zeider and Robert Ray Welsh
were examined and ordered placed on file.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Fire Department application of Russell Dwight Ryker was examined and
ordered placed on file.
Fire Department Injuries Reports for January, February, March, April
and May, were examined and ordered placed on file.
Fire Department runs outside the city limits for January, February,
March, April and May, were examined and ordered filed.
There being no other business to come before the Board', the meeting
was adjourned at 11:45 A. MI.
