A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday,
May 16, 1955, at 10 :00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the
previous meeting were read'and approved. Claims of the following suppliers,
in the total amount of 05653.45, were approved and ordered paid:

POLICE DEPARTMENT:
The request of Chief of
Police R.
J. Gillen for permit to post a
solicitation of funds poster
on Street
Department trash containers
was
denied by the Board from the
standpoint that granting such permission
would establish an undesirable
precedent.
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
.The department's urgent need for automotive parts for Seagravets
equipment, in excess of $200.00, was brought to the attention of the
Board, and the Clerk was given authorization to purchase the stock
required.
The Fire Department application of Michael L. Peters was examined
and ordered placed on file.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:
Supt. Ira Hunsbergerts recommendation for the installation of
a 4000 lumen light in front of St. Casimir's Convent 1316 W. Dunham
Street was approved by the Board. The Board also approved upon Supt.
Hunsbergerts recommendation, the installation of a 4000 lumen light
at the northwest corner of Dubail and Webster Street.
A petition, dated May 13, 1955, for the installation of a street
light at the alley intersection in the 1200 block of Bissell Street,
was referred to Supt. Hunsberger for investigation and report.
Applications for the Police Department were examined and ordered
filed for the following applicants:

Billie G. Bowser
Walter T. Keene
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned at 11 :30 A. M.
