A petition, dated April 18, 1955, carrying nine signatures of
resident property owners, calling for imp-rovedstreet lighting at the
intersection of Rockne Drive and Northwood Drive, and for the 170.0
block of Rockne Drive, was examined and referred to Supt. Hunsberger for
investigation and report.
There being no Lurther business to come before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned at 11 :30 A. M.

A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday,
May 2, 1955, at 10 :00 A. M. All members were present. Minutes of the
previous meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following

Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, placed before the Board the
written acceptance of Cornelius R. Niezgodski for membership in the
Firements Pension Fund, and the action of the Firements Pension Fund
in the payment of death benefits to the estates of. James Scott and
Paul Wegner.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief of Police R. J. Gillen, being present, requested permission
to attend Seminar for Police Administrators, to be conducted at Purdue
University, May 12th and 13th. The Board considered the nominal
estimated expense and granted the permission.
The recommendation of Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen, that Captain
Elmer Sokol be permitted to attend the conference of the National
Probation and Parole Association to be held in St. Paul, Minnesota, on
June 19, 20, 21 and 22, 1955. In view of the importance of the matters
to be taken up in this conference, the Board granted permission.
Police Department Application of James W. Falls was examined and
ordered placed on file.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:
The recommendation of Supt. Ira Hunsberger for the changing of the
4006 lumen light on Rush Street, south of Monroe Street, from underground
to overhead system, was approved by the Board.
Supt. Hunsbergerts recommendation for the changing of the 2500 lumen
light at the intersection of Edgewater and Monroe Street, from underground
to overhead system, was approved by the Board.
A petition, dated May 2, 1955, calling for a change in street lighting
at 1316 W. Dunham Street, was examined and referred to Supt. Hunsberger
for investigation and report.
A petition, dated May 2, 1955, calling for improved street lighting
and the installation of a dead -end street marker, at the intersection of
Dubail and Webster Street was examined by the Board and referred to
Supt. Hunsberger for investigation and report.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned at 11 :45 A. M.
