IRE DEPARTMENT:.
Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, requested permission for the
attendance of the -11th annual Arson Investigators Seminar at Purdue
niversity, by Battalion Chief Kenneth W. Waterson, Asstt. Chief Andrew
argyas, and Capt. Paul Nelson, April 25th to 28th inclusive. The Board
ranted its permission.
The Board approved the issuing -of Purchase Order No. BW7506 to
orifirm ordered placed by the Fire Chief for a quantity of Maxim parts
rgently required for fire equipment in the total sum of $354.00.
OLICE 'DEPARTMENT;
Chief of Police R. J. Gillen, being present, requested permission
or the attendance of six members of the Police Department Pistol Team to
ttend the Indiana State Gallery Pistol Championship matches to be held
t Muncie, Sunday, May 1, 1955. Permission was so granted.

A petition, dated April 18, 1955, carrying nine signatures of
resident property owners, calling for imp-rovedstreet lighting at the
intersection of Rockne Drive and Northwood Drive, and for the 170.0
block of Rockne Drive, was examined and referred to Supt. Hunsberger for
investigation and report.
There being no Lurther business to come before the Board, the
meeting was adjourned at 11 :30 A. M.

Fire Chief, R. J. Duck, being present, placed before the Board the
written acceptance of Cornelius R. Niezgodski for membership in the
Firements Pension Fund, and the action of the Firements Pension Fund
in the payment of death benefits to the estates of. James Scott and
Paul Wegner.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief of Police R. J. Gillen, being present, requested permission
to attend Seminar for Police Administrators, to be conducted at Purdue
University, May 12th and 13th. The Board considered the nominal
estimated expense and granted the permission.
The recommendation of Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen, that Captain
Elmer Sokol be permitted to attend the conference of the National
Probation and Parole Association to be held in St. Paul, Minnesota, on
June 19, 20, 21 and 22, 1955. In view of the importance of the matters
to be taken up in this conference, the Board granted permission.
