, A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held Monday,
February' 28,-1955, at'10, 00 A. M. 'Mr. I* A.' Hurwich Was-absent. Minutes
of the previous meeting weie read and approved. Claimt of the following
suppliers, in the total amount of $1269.68, were approved and ordered
paid:

FIRE DEPARTMENT:
The Board first read the
report
of Assit. Chief Vargyas ' bearing
also the signature of Harold
Zyski,
dated February 23, 19-55, concerning
the suspension of Fireman Robert
Shultz.
Fire Chief, Richard J.
Duck.,
being present, the matter was
discussed
briefly and Fireman Shultz
was
called before the Board, accompanied by Anthony Kovatch, representing
the Fireman's Association.
The report was read to Fireman
Shultz, who offered no denial
of
the facts set forth therein.
The Board sustained the suspension
of
Fireman Shultz until March 21st,
on
which date he was directed to
again appear before the Board
and show cause, if any, why he should
not be discharged from the Fire Department. The Board directed
the
Clerk to confirm date for the
March
21st appearance of Fireman Shultz,
to him by letter.
The Fire Department application
of Fred A. Wroblewski was examined
and ordered filed.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
The Board authorized the attendance of the Police Pistol Team at the
National Pistol Tournament at Tampa" Florida, commencing March 4, 1955,
members of the team to return to regular duty March 16, 1955.
The Police Departmentts need d for an electroglass dryer was next
considered and the Clerk was directed to proceed with the purchase of
this equipment.
Police Department applications of James L. Anastos and Frank R.
Campagna were examined and ordered placed on file.
It now being the advertised time for the opening of bids, announce-
ment was so made and bids were as follows:

POLICE DEPARTMENT:
First appeared'bef'ore -the Board,
Chief of Police ' R. J. Gillen,
bringing attention to his
departmentts need for six new four-door
sedans. Funds having been appropriated for this purpose, and
six
trade-ins being available, the Board granted approval and directed the
Clerk to proceed with the
required legal advertising.
The Police Auxiliary School Patrol application of Elsie M.
Fenters
was examined and ordered placed on file.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT:
