HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/09/1953 Board of Public Safety Minutes4 ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: The recommendation of Superintendent Ira Hunsberger, for the in- stallation of 4000 lumen lights at the following locations, was approved by the Board. North side of Dubail Avenue, near Twyckenham Drive intersection of Rockne Drive and Cherry Tree Lane Intersection of Rockne Drive and Coquillard Drive ". The recommendation'of Superintendent Hunsberger to install a 6000 lumen light on the southwest corner of South Bend Avenue and White Oak Drive was approved by the Board. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A. FIRE DEPARTMENT.- The Board approved the increased estimate of cost for the repair of Engine No. 8, based on the finding that cost of new crankshaft only will be in excess of $1,000.00, and a required additional emergency approp- riation has been placed with the Common Council to meet this urgent and necessary expenditure. The Fire Department Injuries Report for the month of October, was examined and ordered filed. Reports of runs made into outlying area of Portage Township, by Engine Company No. 12, and into German Township, by Engine Company No. 13, from October 22nd to 29th inclusive, were examined and ordered filed. A- petition, dated September 30, 1953, presented to the Board by- Councilman Stanley C. Korpal, and calling for improved lighting on Linden Avenue at or near the intersection of Linden and Concord, was referred to Superintendent Ira Hunsberger for investigation and report. A request for the installation of a street light on Gertrude Street, two- hundred feet south of driveway into Rum Village Park, was examined and referred to Superintendent Hunsberger for investigation and report.
