Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following suppliers, in the amount of $2598.27s'-were approved and ordered paid: Addison Sponge -Co. Gillen, being present, placed before the Board four appointments to be made for special police officers. These were examined, approved and appointed by the Board, as follows: L. C. Barnes employed by Howard F. Blackburn Collection Service, Inc. Paul S. Dunfee employed by Bendix Products Div. Bendix Aviation Corp. Albert Linhart employed by American District Telegraph Co. John Alvin Miller Bendix Home Appliances, Inc. Police Department applications of the following applicants were examined and ordered placed on file: J. Robert Osborn John Pastor. This being the time set in the legal advertising for the opening of bids to provide six IVlodel 1953 4 -Door Sedans and two new 3 -wheel Motorcycles for the Police Department, Chairman of the Board, Irving A. Hurwich, so announced, proceeding, as follows; SCHERMAN -SCHAUS FREEMAN CO. A Non - Collusion Affidavit SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. and certified check for $466.00 accompanied the bid. 6 1953 Studebaker Champion Custom 4 Door Sedans with specifications as per proposal @ $1516.74 $9100-44 Less trade -in allowance on 6 cars.. .1250.00 §4050.44 Bid was taken under advisement, pending a check of equipment and accessories to determine that specifications have been fully met. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: Ira Hunsberger, Superintendent, being present, reported on petition of B. Stuczko, Pastor-of St. Hedwige,,under date of February 13, 1953' and recommended ended transfer of light at the alley next to St. Hedwige School from underground system to aerial system, and the installation_of a 2500 lumen light at the west side of ?34 W. Napier Street. The Superintendenttsrecommendations .:were' approved. Superintendent Hunsbergerts recommendation to transfer light from underground system to. aerial system at the corner of South and St. Joseph - Street, also met with the Boardts approval. A petition; dated March 10,'1953'calling for improved street lighting on Frederickson Street in the vicinity of Goodland Avenue to - Bendix Drive, was examined and referred to Superintendent Hunsberger for .investigation and report. The Fire Departmentts need for three new Chemox masks at the cost of $150.00 each, was brought to the attention of the Board. The Board directed the Clerk to proceed to obtain the required equipment.
