PUBLIC WORKS AND PROPERTY VACATION COMMITTEE
09-13-10
Chairperson David Varner, called the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee
meeting to order at 3:40 p.m.
Committee Members Present: David Varner, Tim Rouse, Tom LaFountain, Henry Davis
Other Councilmember's Present: Derek Dieter, Ann Puzzello, Oliver Davis,
Karen White, Al "Buddy" Kirsits
Other's Present: Mayor Luecke, Jeff Parrott, Rita Kopala, Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand,
Terry Meehan, Marty Wolfson, Sean Meehan
Agenda: Bill No. 48-10 -Alley Vacation -Main & Colfax
Chairperson Varner began discussion of Bill No. 48-10 by introducing Terry and Sean
Meehan the owners of Fiddler's Hearth to make a presentation. They said they would
like the alley vacated to allow an outdoor dining area. The alley presently is not a
through alley; and is used only for deliveries to three businesses and for placement of
trash bins. According to the Council Attorney a record of appropriate easements directed
by the Board of Public Works has been filed and the BPW has given subsequent
favorable recommendation. After brief discussion Tom LaFountain motioned the bill be
sent with a favorable recommendation. Councilmember Rouse seconded and all
affirmed.
Under miscellaneous Council President Dieter asked Mr. Meehan if he had been
contacted by the city about sidewalk repair in front of his place. President Dieter said he
would get the ball rolling on this.
Chairperson Varner announced at Information & Technology Meeting would beheld on
Monday, October 4, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Caucus Room to discuss upgrades
to the video-recording system.
There being no further business to come before the committee at this time, Chairperson
Varner adjourned the meeting at 3:50 p.m.
