AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $514,000 FROM EDIT
FUND 408 AND $70,740 FROM EMERGENCY MEDICAL FUND 288 FOR THE
FIRE STATION NO. 2 CONSTRUCTION PROJECT AND EQUIPMENT
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The project for construction of a new Fire Station No. 2 was previously
approved by this Common Council. However, the contract bids exceeded the
estimates upon which initial approval was based, and in order to undertake this
necessary and desirable project, an additional appropriation is needed.
Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) funds of $514,000 are available in
Fund 408 for this purpose and a smaller sum ($70,730) is available in
Emergency Medical Fund No. 288. This ordinance provide for such
appropriation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $514,000 is hereby appropriated and set aside
within Fund 408 for unforeseen construction costs of the Fire Station No. 2
project.
SECTION II. The sum of $70,730 is hereby appropriated and set aside
within Fund No. 288 for unforeseen construction costs of the Fire Station No. 2
project and equipment.
SECTION III. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

is being recommended to the full Council as favorable as substituted and amended by:
Changing the title from $40,730 from Emergency Management Fund 288 to read
$70,740 from Emergency Medical Fund #288.
Also changing Emergency Management Fund #288 in the statement of purpose and
intent to read Emergency Medical Fund #288.

Re: Substitute Bill to Appropriate Funds for the Fire Station No. 2 Construction Project and
Equipment
Dear Mr. Rouse:
Attached is a substitute ordinance regarding the Fire Station No. 2 construction project.
The sum of $70,730 should be appropriated from Emergency Management Fund No.
288. This increase is necessary because the actual bids for equipment exceeded the initial
appropriation.
I will be available to present this ordinance at the appropriate Common Council
Committee meeting and at the public hearing. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
