AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA APPROPRIATING $1,953,573 OUT OF FUND 642 TO PAY COSTS FOR THE
LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD STORM SEWER PROJECT
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
In 2005 the City received funds for purposes of constructing a storm sewer system on
Lafayette Boulevard in anticipation of the Memorial Hospital Expansion. The construction
process has extended into 2006, and the funds inadvertently were not encumbered in 2005 for
future use during the life of the project. This Ordinance appropriates a total of $1,953,573 of the
original construction funds (Fund No. 642) for anticipated construction costs in 2006.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
Section I. The sum of $1,953,573 is hereby appropriated and set aside within Fund No.
642 for purposes of paying construction costs in 2006 of the Lafayette Boulevard storm sewer
project (Account No. 642-0621-415.42-OS).
Section II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by
the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

In Re: Ordinance to Appropriate Sewage Works Funds
Dear President Rouse:
The attached ordinance is offered for Council consideration. It deals with new
appropriations from Sewage Works enterprise funds (fund 642)to a sewer appropriation
account for sewer rehabilitation (account line item 642-0621-415.42-05) in the 2006
Sewage Works budget.
The total dollar amount to be appropriated is $ 1,953,573. These funds will be
used to cover the construction of the Memorial/Lafayette storm sewer. The
Memorial/Lafayette storm sewer had been funded in the 2005 Capital Budget, but we
inadvertently failed to encumber the construction money into the 2006 budget.
I will make the formal presentations and am available anytime if you have
questions.
