SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 30. 2005
A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was convened at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30,
2005, at the Central Fire Station, 1222 South Michigan, South Bend, Indiana, by Board President
Jesusa Rodriguez, with Board Members Donald Alford and Juanita Dempsey present. Board
Member Wesley Taylor was not present. Also present was Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar.

In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor recommended the Board to hire the above referred
to applicants as probationary Firefighters. These applicants are recommended for hire from the
2004-2005 hiring list and have successfully completed a twenty (20) week recruit school and are
ready to be sworn in. Chief Taylor recommended the hiring be effective June 30, 2005.
Mr. John Voorde, City Clerk, administered the Oath of Office to these individuals, and along with
the Mayor Steve Luecke and the Board, wished them the best in their endeavors with the South Bend
Fire Department. Chief Taylor presented the individuals with their badges.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, President Rodriguez declared the meeting
adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
